Lin wasn't average last year. He played at an all-star level.

I think you are exaggerating. Chalmers shut him down.

What is up with everyone and revisionist history? Did they completely forget that that Miami game was the first time Lin started facing double-teams as soon as he got the ball and traps at half-court? Miami gameplanned for Lin and shut him down. Good for them. They were the best team and had one of the best defenses last year.

I don't recall any team EVER gameplanning or doubling Raymond Felton.

Exactly.

And I bet any other NBA personnel evaluator will tell you the exact same thing.

Simply the media and fans were overrating Lin.

And when an organization is making a decision about a player, they don't ask the media or the fans. They ask the professional scouts they pay.

right because dropping 40 something points on the lakers with jeffries, fields, and bill walker can be done by anyone. PS: felton would have dropped 50. TAKE THAT LINSANITY!!!!

With a "green light" to rebound next to Brook Lopez. Be consistent man. Humphries is a solid player, but barely getting a double double gets you 14 million a year in this league, thats my point. So how is 18 and 7 on 8 million a year a trash deal?

He's done it for the last two years.

What does that have to do with anything? Lol. The context is that if Lin puts up 18 and 7 NEXT year, that he will NOT be worth his contract. Nothing to do with his numbers last year being a fluke, which is what I assume you are getting at.

18/7 is bad if he shoots 38%. If it's 18/7 on 48% shooting and less than 3 turnovers a game. That's an all-star easily if the team has a decent record.

Nice to take my post away from the topic.

!8/7 on a team where Lin would be the go-to guy is not that good.

His Rockets team has more pieces than what Lin had during Linsanity, unless linsanity was a fluke.

There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

Agreed. I don't mind that he speaks his mind, that's encouraged. However, it has to be done in a constructive way. Some of his posts are all about omg, we suck, worst organization ever or whatever. That's adding nothing to the conversation and looking for a reaction from other posters.

To all posters,

Something else I wanted to add. I understand the emotions behind the move for many posters so, personally, I am going to be lenient tonight/tomorrow morning but, after that, time to move on. I am not happy with the decision either but such is life. And, if you decide, you can't follow this team anymore, you have the right to make such a decision but I am pretty sure noone here cares so just feel free to stop posting here and you will be achieving your goal of not following this team anymore.

thank you. i knew when they made you a mod this would work in my favor one day.

Well if he does not come out and plays the way he played in NY they might not get much. Linsanity was like a well time Hurricane and it hit hard. But not many players go undrafted and become Franchise players or even All Stars. The only one I can remember recently was Ben Wallace. I know a lot of people equate his race as being a factor in why he was overlooked, but talent is talent. I wanted him to suceed in NY, but now that I'm sure he's going to Houston, I'm not certain if he was all that and a bag of chips to begin with.

nothing if he reverts back to the scrub who got waived by 2 teams and went undrafted.

I'm not saying he's going to be the greatest player, but I doubt he'll suck that badly. As of this writing he's their best player (Lets face it, Martin is as good as gone)...

I don't think Stat or Melo ever really treated him like one of their circle. I don't think he has a link on the team that he feels connected to.

I doubt it. I think based on comments recently, he actually wanted to stay in NY and thought the Knicks would match any offer. I think what screwed him if NY was where he wanted to be was his agent. If this was CAA and Lin wanted NY they would have gotten the Knicks that offer from the start.

I'm astounded that we are on the brink of losing both Fields and Lin for exactly nothing in return

Knicks fans think he's the next prodigy and that he'll lead the KNicks to the promise land. I understand it. He brings with him mystery in his potential and that's all fun for fans to sit around and watch... But if you're putting forth that kind of money etc and these people are telling you he won't be all that great - easier to make the decision.

Even if Lin goes to Houston and puts up 17 and 8 on that team.. They probably believe for the money and everything else considered, Felton is the better option for the team.. Just as Lin to the Rockets is best financially for Lin.

I don't understand why people can't understand that?

That's similar numbers to a lot of top 5 PG's who are the go-to guy though. If he gets that at Hou, it will definitely be a bad decision to have let him go.

Dude you cant like Lin unless you're going to slobber all over his nuts, you should know that.

Paco liked Lin like CoolKids liked Lin. You guys tolerated him but saw more hole than others. CoolKids preferred TD, so we know how those opinion go. I'm not calling Paco a Lin hater, but you did not like Lin as much as Dr.Z and that is why you think his pro Lin post were trolling, while other who post anti-Lin stuff was not always as offensive to you as those who like Lin more. Simple as that.

BTW, see how these people who 'like Lin' always go back to these stupid 'Lin fanboy' type comment. It seems if you appreciate Lin and his game at all, it means you wanna slobber his knob, think he's gonna be better than CP3 and can beat Melo with one leg tied to Lala's tits.

In a year people will see that Lin is nothing but an overpaid, mediocre player.

Hey man, we're rebuilding the '99 Knicks 13 years later.

Return to New York Knicks
