the hawks are very cheap team thats why lot of there players leave that onwership group is very bad even when there solid there onwersship group they don't want add money .For example they never got a center for al hortford never wanted to pay for a big guy to bang with other center always wanted him play undersized never wanted to get big guys and always wanted to be cheap.

If they match, that's a lot of $$ tied up into Tim & Baze (don't think anyone will take Bazemore until he proves he's the player he was before that contract).
They have Dennis Shroeder. That's "their guy". Tim Hardaway won't be the difference in fans selling their season tickets. Lol. They already traded away Dwight & Milsap.

Hardaway was a disaster of a pick. No defense, no rebounding, no ball sharing. Dude was all about ball stopping and clanking. He couldn't shoot at home. 4/71 ?? Dude could shoot that from three at the Garden in March.

I'm not buying the BS he got better in Atlanta. The Hawks have a great system, which produced record shooting from Kyle Korver, and produced better scoring numbers for Tim, but with him, they got worse as a team.

This is beyond ridiculous. Y'all wanted Phil away despite he was fiscally responsible with the team.
I am still shocked by Phil's firing, but I didn't think Mills could turn the team back into the laughing stock it was under Scott Layden or Isiah Thomas this quick. Smh. RIP this team. I wouldn't be surprised now they keep Melo.

Poor Frank. To play alongside Hardaway and Anthony was not what he was hoping for when he got drafted. He's going to get mad at all the switching in D, these guys can't guard a damn wheelchair on the 3pt line.

Hawks got worse because they invested into the wrong players.
They let Jeff Teague & Horford dip & gave a big contract Bazemore & Dwight Howard (who they already traded after 1 season).
Korver got a year older & got traded.
I'm surprised they did as good as they did last season to be honest.

True. Lol I forgot about Schroeder. I would think they have a good amount of cap money though and it's not like they plan to be good next few years. They can match him and it won't really affect their plan.

For someone who we fired, he's sure been connected to all our players by training with Melo in Melo's his gym, Kyle O'Quinn & even our boy Frank in Melo's gym.

[quote="KnicksGod"]If Atlanta really wanted to keep him, what's $4M more per year, really?

A team, for example, can take back that much more in a trade than they're giving up, with a big enough amount in salaries being traded away.

Here's the thing even ignoring the ridiculous amount, all the advantages in the contract go to Hardaway. He's getting paid on potential, and let's say he becomes a max player, he can opt out after the third year and if he gets traded that extra too. Hell of alot to give for a player who's not even your second option.

Timmy has it in him to be a top SG. But it's more about the Knicks. I still don't trust them when it comes to developing players.

The media experts didn't even see this move coming feels like Mills and co. just thought about this for 20 minutes and made a move. Not realizing what it does for our future and the direction it looked like they were heading in.

I don't think THjr is just gonna hand over the reins of the franchise to KP or anyone else on the roster. If THjr has the competitive fire that I believe he has, I expect him to out-alpha the majority of the guys on the team.

It might be similar to how Westbrook never allowed himself to be seen as "Robin" with Durant being seen as "Batman". Westbrook has always felt he was as good or better than Durant, not merely his sidekick.

I want THjr to continue improving at the rate he did last summer and throughout this past season. For that top happen, he must have a confidence in his game that leads him to believe he can be the captain of the team as well as an all-star if he maintains an all-around game.

The Hawks face an interesting decision on who much they are willing to pay for Hardaway. Kent Bazemore signed a four-year, $70 million contract as an unrestricted free agent last summer, an annual salary of $15 million. It was Hardaway who supplanted Bazemore in the starting lineup. The development of Hardaway was also one of the reasons the Hawks traded Kyle Korver midseason.

Bazemore is getting $15Ms & Tim Hardaway took that man's spot. Of course he wanted more than $15M per. lol

You're going to be one of those guys that talk yourself into believing this is a good move, right?

Those guys exist for every signing. Even Jerome James and Joakin Noah had supporters.

I'm trying to understand their math because 4yr/70mil does not equal $15mil/yr. Regardless of that math I just don't see the Hawks matching

Nah I think he was just responding to what some others were saying that he needs to fall back and let Frank and KP rise but knowing what I know about nba players and ego he ain't gonna just do that. I mean best case it could really work and they are all hungry and young and light a fire under each other's azzes it could also be a disaster. It's a valid discussion...
