I don't want Shump to be a 'star'.... I prefer him to be an exceptional two way player and clutch performer on a reasonable contract. That way the Knicks can afford to keep him and still add another player like CP or DH.

I don't see Iman becoming a top 10/15 player of all time, but I see him as a starting PG or SG that can score in a variety of ways, distribute, and a great defender that you can put on the opposing teams best player unless it's a PF or Center, but I could see him guarding PG's, SG's, and SF's.

He'll be on his rookie deal so no worries, he can be best in the draft and I would be ecstatic.

Kobe has an incredibly high BBIQ...he can work as hard as Kobe and still never reach his level. I highlighted half of it because in all likelihood, the hard work will continue - people that work hard from the beginning tend to have the same work ethic throughout their life (including non-athletes as well).

Gallo has nothing to do with Iman...I wasn't comparing the two. I was just saying that I will buy Iman's jersey but I still need to buy Gallo's jersey as well. You saying he can't create his own shot is pretty funny. Getting to the FT line, driving the lane, and posting up (which he started to do more often in Denver when the coach didn't have his job as the spot up shooter) all count towards being able to create a shot.

I personally think it is pretty stupid to believe that he can become the next Kobe "if he has Kobe's mindset and is persistent like him." Like I said before, Kobe has an incredibly high BBIQ and from what Iman has shown at GTech where he forced up bad shots, he does not have it. He's going to be a good 3/4 option on offense (depending on if we get CP3 or not) and a very nice defender, but expecting him to be a top SG in the league is pushing it.

kobe forced up bad shots just as much. he just happened to make those bad shots that nobody makes. ok i take it back, i don't think shumpert will become the next kobe no matter how hard he works cause he's just not as talented as kobe. i do believe that one day shumpert will be a top 5 SG in the league. i know talent when i see one. the players that i think has talent, they all become good or great players. and i think iman is gonna be a beast. he's gonna be the SG version of amare. i'll be hesitant to give him up in a CP3 trade unless i know cp3 is the cp3 of old.

This kid was the right pick just off the strength of his mindset and his work-ethic alone. You hear his determination in his lyrics to his songs as well as in seeing it through the intensity of his workouts. I'm calling it now, this kid is going to be a star on and off the court. I'm talking endorsements, music, basketball, sports media and business.

I think he could be in a similar situation to Latrell Sprewell when he first came out of college, Spree was suppose to be a defensive specialist but then shocked everyone with his offensive prowess. Now obviously I am not saying he is going to be an all NBA 1 st team selection and multiple Allstate, but I do believe that he could emerge as a much better player than everyone is expecting.

I don't care what anyone say, the Chicago Bull were laying low and hoping that the Knick's passed on Shumpert. They were ready to pounce. I mean he's a local product like the other athletic fool that occupies the Bull's point guard position now. Just imagine a Rose, Shumpert backcourt. That would have to go down as the all time athletic duo in history. Just a hunch, but this guy will seal D Walsh's legacy.

I must admit, he has good form on his pull up jumper

That usually is a sign of future success and longevity

Agreed. Him not being very accurate with his jumper in college doesn't mean he won't be accurate in the NBA. Usually, if you have a good shooting form, you usually end up shooting well in the NBA eventually. It doesn't mean he'll come in and knock down 10 shots in a row, but if he keeps on working on his shot like he has been, he's got a very good shot at becoming a good shooter in the NBA.

His song "Rollercoaster" is not available on his website for download. It's from the video that was released last week...not gonna lie, I like it a lot.

I am also now considering ending every post of mine with "Chuuuch."

That song is kinda dope! I had no idea he was into rapping, he isn't half bad. Also he has a more outgoing personality than I initially thought, not that it really matters on the court but I find myself rooting more for guys like him (like landry).

It's good to know that everyday the lockout extends, so does his game. One positive.

Usually when you see a dude with so much overall talent, it translates well on the hardwood. This kid seem to have STAR written all over him. I know some are saying slow down, but please remember that most comments are only about what we are seeing with our own eyes. Sometimes seeing really is believing. Iv'e been doing the basketball thing for a long time and know sure talent when I see it. Shumpert has it to spare! Probably the most important thing is that he seems to have a high level of confidence (not arrogance), almost like he knows something that we don't. If you go back to the first videos he was posting and compare them to his latest, you'll see what I mean. You can literally see his jump shot evolve from one with decent form, to one that seems to be butter now. There is no reason he couldn't transfer his shot to a NBA game with his level of confidence and combination of size and explosiveness. Remember, Shumpert will be playing with freakin Amare, Melo and Billups. That in itself is going to have a huge impact on his game and comfort level. I'm a long time Knick fan and it's hard to get excited about a Knick's draft choice, but you would have to search for many moons to find a Knick's draft pick that I have seen this many people excited about. Even the overly cautious give reluctant praise. When folk started taking a good look at pre-draft Westbrook, his draft status shot up (lottery) the board because, of his elite athleticism and overall make up. I don't care how many times I see Shumpert, you can't convince me that he doesn't have everything Westbook has and if nothing else he's stronger. So I'm staying excited and I'm pretty confident that for once in a very long time, the Knick's may have been in the right place, at the right time.

Call me crazy but he'll win Rookie Of The Year.

According to DA, he says if or when there is a season. Teams will most likely sit their star players alot due to the back to back schedule of 5 games in 6 nights and the type of hectic schedule a shortened season will have, teams will look to use their younger players to help them and manage their other players minutes which just seems like the perfect situation for Iman to showcase himself.

He'll put up 17ppg, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 steals. D'antoni will bring him off the bench as a Sixth Man once he gets some time to show how good he is and how useful he is.

He just has star written over him. You can just respect his game already.

lol this made me crack up

maybe in his prime he'll get somewhere close to those numbers, but even then i don't think so.

what has he done to warrant this praise? i think its funny honestly. why would he drop to us if he's this good? he'll be a pretty good role player i think (trevor ariza-like), but anything more than that...the odds are against him.
