I get that but isn't "value" more important. For instance, some guys are way underpaid at the max. For instance, ADs max of 27 mill is him being underpaid. LeBron was underpaid at the max his whole career. A 25% max for DLo is still a good contract. Look at Beal, he's paid the max and they still want picks, players and prospects to let him go. It would have been similar with DLO. He would have still be an asset - whether on the roster or to be used in a future trade.

I gotta be honest man.

I think these guys had a plan and sure that was great. But they got too cute. They underrated the aggressiveness of other teams. They blew a shot to add talent with no cost outside of Randle.

Not giving KD a max will hurt us. Not being in on everyone, at least to generate some interest or engage in some of these 3 way deals is a waste of an asset. What's the point of capspace if not to maximize either talent or assets with bad contracts attached?

Mills and Perry are going to be kicking themselves for years with the shuda/coulda/woulda.
