It would be an odd sequence of events to give up on Jrue, only to give up on Lonzo, and finally settle on Kemba.

Normally this only happens if there was a front office shake up in the middle, but…

Of course you can be mad.

Mediocre players will give you a mediocre team.

We're the New Orlando Magic.

Get used to that reality.

We'll lose our time on a meaningless treadmill for the next 3-4 years until a new FO takes over and promises Dolan that THIS TIME we will get free agents.

Meanwhile the Old Orlando Magic blew it up by trading Vucevic and 5 months later got Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner.

I hate being a Knicks fan.

I don’t get why people would be against this move, for one he’s better than Bullock where he’s not just a shooter. 3 pt shooting is in his arsenal, not his only. 20 mil is what most players in his range start out in negotiations, you always start high. It does not mean that’s what your getting. On the Magic there team was younger than ours and he became the number 2 option. With us he would not be our only signing and as is he would be our number 3.

Could be calm before the storm.....I hope

What or who are you hoping for? There's only one legit max player on the FA market and he will probably resign with the Clippers.

Knicks need a PG in the biggest way, there's a handful of them and if we can't grab one with the biggest cap space this offseason then I'm ready for Elfrid Payton again.

No problem. I think the Bulls are expecting that they may need to sign and trade for him.

The Knicks have Rose early bird rights. They certainly are not aiming to overpay him but it looks like they want to give him a raise and they are letting another ballclub "decide" Rose value

We weren't speaking about Rose. That was in reference to Lonzo.

Griffin has a talent for becoming the GM of teams with a no. 1 pick franchise talent. Otherwise, his track record is not impressive.

As I shared last year one of my highschool buddies has a few clients that are scouts in the nba. Last year gave me some info I passed along as it’s come out. Says the Knicks are committed to getting elite shooting that fit with rj and Randle especially someone who doesn’t need the ball in there hands.
Said the sentiment around the league is the Knicks feel there’s some attainable “guards” to fill there pg issue.

Who that is no clue. I asked if he can get me some more info. I’ll pass whatever I can along.

I like Duncan Robinson but we definitely going to overpay. I think he's better than his stats show.

there is no mandate to reach the salary floor. They will spend the money but I have seen this brought up multiple times you are not penalized by not hitting the salary floor the players on your roster just get distributed more money.

I was thinking the same thing but he is making 17 mil year. But atleast he attacks the rim and was getting together in Orlando

I'm not against Fournier in a vaccuum, but committing a significant piece of our cap to him means we're (as always) not addressing the real issues: the lack of a true offensive engine, the hole at point guard and the fact we don't have a 5 who can shoot.

Signing Fournier first limits our options to address our real problems.

If the Knicks stay married to the idea of building around Randle (which they shouldn't I reckon), then they will have to find a center who can space the floor this offseason. Otherwise our offense will get exposed, just like it was against Atlanta. The entire NBA has the blueprint now.

Unless the coaching staff plans on developing Obi as a 5, then trading for Turner becomes a priority imo.

The Knicks at least won’t sign Elfrid for one season. Two for $17M should get it done.

Him leaving CAA was the best thing. Dude wants to blame everyone but himself for being trash.

Thanks for sharing that.
What info was shared last year that panned out? I realize that not every move discussed happens too.

I could see the Knicks thinking this, and this is connected to the rumor that the Knicks are going to try to sticker shock a few teams regarding RFA's. A lot of people hoped that would be Lonzo, but maybe it's DR?

Another thought: Knicks might not mind paying...25 million for DR, if it came to it, but also want to drive up the price on Miami.

I guess we could all look at the RFA list and speculate who they might attempt to "overpay", but only one that stands out to me is THT.
Again, I have no clue.

What about just giving Kelly Olynyk some money to be the backup 5?

Fournier is a player the Knicks add AFTER getting a PG.
Well, I'd hope that would be the play, if they insist.
Still think it would put the team at 2nd round exit/next level up exit though.
Fournier has a good all around game. But maybe not good enough to take over in the playoffs.
