What we saw in recent years was a record number of players wanting out of their teams to buddy up with another player.

The competitive offers are now coming to a stop. 1-2 years ago, Brooklyn Nets have no issue getting 5 first round picks for a 32 year old Kevin Durant. Now it's looking like they are going to hold onto him because the offers have been weak.
