It shows he wants to win. Leave with 99+ million with no ring or leave with 88+, with a possible NBA ring.

After partying and taxes, and all the family and friends that ask him for money, leaving 12 mil on the table is pretty stupid. He's only in his mid-30s. He needs to plan for the future. I'm sure his family won't change their lifestyle after he retires, so he'll be spending loads of money his whole life. The more money he makes the better chance he and/or his family have of always being wealthy and healthy.

Plus, statistically speaking, the Spurs aren't even favorites to win. I don't think it's justifiable to leave that much money on the table. He'll be regretting that decision in 10-15 years.

He made his millions already. I can count many players who were ringless near the end of their careers to sign with a contender on the cheap for a chance to win a title before they retire. So obviously money isn't the only thing that some players care about. I really doubt he will regret that 11 million compared to him thinking "what if" he went to the spurs and won that title.

Apparently Markief Morris is on the block. Almost the same contract size as Calderon.

Maybe Calderon and Early for Morris??

Caron Butler and Willie Green are minimum salary players. I don't mind bringing back Shved but I think we need a veteran big first. Nothing flashy. A guy like Elton Brand or Kendrick Perkins will do.

Kendrick Perkins is probably top 10 worst players in the entire NBA.

Don't think we have a realistic shot at getting him, but I'd love him here. I'd do Calderon, Early, Galloway and future assets for Morris. Sign Sergio Rodriguez with the 2.8M

Sergio Rodriguez - Jerian Grant - Kendall Marshall ? (vet min)
Arron Afflalo - Jimmer Fredette? (vet min) - Ricky Ledo
Carmelo Anthony - Caron Butler? (vet min) - Thanasis Antetokounpo
Markieff Morris - Kristaps Porzingis - Derrick Williams
Robin Lopez - Kyle O'Quinn - Lou Amundson (vet min)

Looks pretty good and deep to me. :)

No he's not. He's been a starting C for a lot of winning teams. Scoring is not everything.

Crazy if you ask me. I get and respect him trynna get a ring, but nah the potential of getting a ring isnt worth turning down that type of $.

It's crazy.....but you and I aren't multi millionaires....and he is, so as long as he has worked with a financial guy for any part of his career, he'll be fine and then some the rest of his life. I bet you wouldn't be saying the same thing if the Knicks were loaded and he wanted to come play for you?!

 Yes! He's got a pretty good shot now from long range. That and rumors he wants to return to the NBA, probably make him a good fit.

What a terrible stereotype....like all NBA players are morons with money. AI is essentially living off interest from a financial guy who worked with him on his first deal. If West just put a million or two in a some sort of IRA, he could play for free this year. You calling it a potential regrettable situation is completely asinine considering you have no idea if he or his agent has worked with any sort of financial adviser. LOL.....I like how you follow the NBA enough to know exactly how each player and their families live and conduct themselves. :noway:

David West IS crazy for leaving that amount of cash on the table, but not crazy like JR. He seems like a level headed guy. Hopefully he gets his ring.

Who knows, maybe D West got paid under the table by the Pacers to opt out along with their blessing to join a contender.
