Conflicting info out there, but source insists Raymond Felton's deal with New York will pay him approximately $18 million over four years.

WTF. Is that possible with Gad & JJ's salaries

So instead we will start the season with four PGs? Sorry but I don't see it. Lin is over in NYC.

It seems like Dolan couldn't have Lin overshadow Melo.

Anyway, Felton is going to play great here, so having a quality starting PG, at his prime (28 years old) for 4.5m$/y, ir GREAt.

Source close to Lin thinks Knicks still match. Keep in mind this: Even tho Felton is a PG he's a shooter too. Woody likes to mixup lineups.

Last I remembered Melo played in a high scoring, fast style tempo in Denver & last I remembered Felton plays best as a halfcourt PG.

What really are you saying fam?

Felton played his best ball in D'Antoni's uptempo system. He got a lot of point from pushing in transition. Lin did well under D'Antoni too but he has a better half court game. Melo thrive in an uptempo system when he had Andre Miller but Felton is a lot worse.

Felton had inflated stats because of Pringles system, but he has always played his best in halfcourt. Lin plays better as a uptempo player, did so in college & excelled in Pringles system.

Does he play good in halfcourt? Yup, but he plays better as a uptempo player.

Damn, we went from almost having Nash and Lin to Felton and Kidd...sigh...I'm sorry, but if we don't match Lin, it would be seriously f*cked up...

It would make sense for the Knicks to match Lin, if not only to keep him as a trade chip for Chris Paul in the off-season. Raymond Felton isn't going to get it done!

Dolan may be greedy and Lin's "marketability" may influence Dolan to match the offer, but Dolan also make some of the dumbest basketball decisions known to man, so not matching Lin also seems VERY possible.

What happens if say Knicks management sees Lin as a SG or can use one of Felton/Kidd/Lin as the starting SG?

I really think Kidd/Lin will be the backcourt and Felton/Prigioni will be the backup PGs with JR Smith as the 6th man from SG.

Lets wait until the decision on Lin is made official fellas.

Quality starting PG? Did you watch the Blazers at all last year? And keeping Lin gives you a 1000x better chance of getting Paul, if that's your plan, then letting him go does.

.
This Felton news brings up the tweets about his unequivocal statements on the 4th of July to an ESPN blogger/stringer. Remember these tweets?
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1192774&start=27

A lot of Knicks fans Zachary Horst was faking it all. But Felton told him on the 4th that was at Dolan's party because he's gonna be a Knick. It didn't sound like he felt he was anyone's "Plan B". It sounded like he had assurances. It was Felton himself doing the talking. Turns out he was right. It was ten days ago.

Today, Felton himself did some more talking to another reporter. He said -- unequivocably -- that the Lin deal was off.

Strange things were happening back at the beginning of the moratorium.
-- Felton thought the Knicks had made assurances to him (He now has a 3 yr contract.)
-- The Knicks were chasing yet another PG named Nash (got Kidd instead with another 3 yr contract)
-- What the Knicks weren't doing is making a move negotiate anything with Lin, leaving him to go find an offer to bring back to the Knicks.

Something just doesn't compute here -- and it's not some huge flap over an extra $5M some three seasons away.
