no i value t-ferg as a guy that didn't play any nba minutes, no college ball, and didn't do anything special in australia.

perry probably wanted someone who's shown he can compete in the nba, not a unknown commodity who is getting hyped by you because you saw ballislife clips.

thank god he brought in mcdermott. somebody who has a proven track record of sucking in the nba.

We needed a Novak though

you just wanted to get rid of melo so what do you care..?

nah, I didn't want a ryan Anderson type deal. I care more about the future of the Knicks. I know that's a foreign concept.

So this deal is fine with me.

i don't see how this trade is much better than a ryan anderson one, honestly. enes just comes off the books one year earlier... hooray

I can't believe y'all thought 33 year old Melo, with a opt out, with a no trade clause, and who wanted the deal done immediately before camp had any friggen value. Wth is wrong with y'all, I don't get it. He didn't help us win but all of a sudden he's worth a ton in a trade. Behave!

melo's value is garbage, that's why every team that wanted him offered garbage.

melo at this point in his career is living off his name and rep, because his game resembles an average player.

Wrong again

clippers offere crawful and rivers
rockets offered anderson
blazers offered harkless and leonard
cavs would've offered a combo of shumpert/smith/frye

so no i'm not wrong, you just can't handle the truth which is okay because dakomish i'm officially done with responding to your posts, and that is simply because i won, and you lost.

buh-bye! hope you still stick around.

So... feature Kanter to ensure his optout? Or elevate Willy and risk Kanter opting in?

then you dont understand basketball or contracts

Anderson was a terrible contract and no, he doesnt come off 1 year earlier but 2 years earlier

and Kanter has trade value

and even if it was 1 year its still better

I just moved to Tulsa so I'm glad that i'll see competitive Thunder team with Melo-PG13-WB-Adams. Its also nice to see cancerous Enes Kanter is leaving. Kanter might have little positive impact on regular season but he was a big hole in post season.
*PG-Melo can play 3-4 positions. Melo as 3rd option would be similar to Melo's Olympic team role. Melo plays good at PF with tough centers. Adams-Melo-PG13 frontcourt looks pretty good.
*Simply trading Kanter's bad contract with Melo. Makes perfect sense. Even if OKC plays competitive WCF this year PG13 might decide to stay here and they increased their chances by good margin.

But as a Knicks fan I hated this trade.
*Enes Kanter would just steal WHG playing time. He doesnt do anything better than WHG. Seriously. He's just have little bit more experience. Bad contract.
Net negative asset.
*Mcdermott+2nd rounder doesnt compansate anything. Mcdermott doesnt fit well with KP/WHG anyway.
*Enes Kanter isnt like other Europeans on the team. He follows an Islamic sect. KP-Kuz-WHG back then Vujacic-Calderon had similar living styles. Also Turkish people hate him and his sect. There will be difficulties, issues about that.
*KP would get much more pressure on his shoulders after Melo's departure.
*This trade wont help tanking much too. Kanter using his player option more likely than Melo staying in NY. So we wont have max player slot in FA.

All in all, watch out for KP to ask trade in a year.
This franchise is doomed and a Unicorn probably wont be enough to save it.

I think some fans are way overblowing the impact of the pieces coming back from a basketball POV.

Nobody is stealing Willy's minutes.
Kanter being a net negative is good for our tank because how bad he is defensively. I'm also thinking he gets traded this year from the Knicks.
Dougie actually fits as a small ball 4 next to either guy.
The second rounder is incredibly valuable.
Kanter being Islamic / Turkish is irrelevant.
KP having more pressure could be a good thing.
You don't know Kanter is going to use his P/O, and if he doesn't exercise it (I personally think he will), we still have more cap space than we did with Melo.

LOL at the bold. That's garbage.

I'm not pleased with what we got in return because I wanted this package in addition to one of Abrines, a first, or T-Ferg, but it is what it is. It's way better than getting back Anderson's contract.

I don't understand people talking as if losing Melo means losing a lot more games. Have these people had their cable and Internet out for the last several years?
