I guess this is how NFL teams now treat preseason. The regular season is too long and grueling to play the regulars.
I really hope he gets past waivers and makes the practice squad. He really did show off some nice tools to build off.
Jets vs 9'ers gets to have the added interest of three contract holdouts heading into the season opener.

Re: The Official NY Jets Thread.
On another note, the scouts did a damned good job with draft talent this offseason. So far, only one drafted player was cut (Mr. Irrelevant, the last pick of the draft Jaylen Key). But they kept 3 UDFA defensive linemen (Eric Watts, Braiden McGregor, and Leonard Taylor); turned another UDFA DB/KR into an improved draft pick (traded Brandon Codrington and a 7th to Buffalo for a 6th); and had a bunch of their picks show promise in preseason: Fashanu, Allen, and Stiggers are the real deal.
The only potential blemish looks like Malachi Corley, who didn't show much and seems like more of a project than finished product.
And that's not to mention acquiring Takk Mckinley, a former first-round pick who became a nice comeback story.

I'm not even excited for Monday or this season. I just can't do it anymore. I am just hoping Rodgers has a decent game without getting hurt. Anything else is gravy.

Thoughts on Haason Reddick? Looks like he won't play in game 1. Will he play for the Jets at all this year? What would you do if you were GM?

Rodgers has to give us a full season and playoffs or the entire thing was a bust. . . . that said, I'm looking forward to this year.

Yep. The season pretty much rests on the 40 year old body of Aaron Rodgers. None of this "most talented team in the NFL" will matter if Rodgers goes down and we have to trust Tyrod Taylor as QB2. Don't get me wrong, Taylor probably be better than Zach Wilson had he been the QB1 last season for the Jets but only way to get anywhere is Rodgers being Rodgers.

I understand the negativity, but this is the best Jets team we've had in 20 years, unless I'm forgetting something. Maybe 30.
Rodgers still has a lot of skill, knowledge and experience and a team around him that's pretty darn good. Yes, we are counting on a 40 something year old QB, so that's a concern, but there's a lot to like and 40 year old QBs have won before. I'm looking forward. I think they have a shot.

Re: The Official NY Jets Thread.
I've said it before, "I'll believe it when I see it" is a completely fair assessment. But these are about as favorable as the conditions could get for the Jets to finally have a genuinely good season. They play one of the weakest schedules in the league, division rivals lost key players (excluding the Pats who sucked last year anyway), and the Jets won 7 games last season with Zach Wilson on a 30.3 QBR.
If they manage to flop this season, just pack it up because there's a real curse.

I said I'm looking forward to the season and I am. Big time. I'm looking forward to both the Jets and Giants, but for different reasons. The Jets, because they might be good. I didn't say would be, I said might be and that's interesting. It's new. It's different.
And the Giants because they're comedy gold. The Giants are the new Jets. You know what. I like that so much I'm going to make it my signature.
But look, if the Jets flop. Have at it. You'll be right and go ahead and say whatever you want about them, but right now, I'm looking forward to the season, even without that holdout Hassan. The Jets flopping doesn't make me wrong though. This team does have some talent and being optimistic going in isn't crazy.

Yeah, to put it simply, there's not a good objective argument against the Jets being good this season. People can check every season preview, power rankings, and/or Vegas oddsmakers projections...The Jets are SUPPOSED to be good this year, and the arguments against them are relying on bad luck and injuries to make sense.

Saleh is a pretty bad offensive coach and Hackett sucks as an offensive coordinator. Jets will find ways to lose.

Y'all went 7-10 the last 2 years with a combination of Zach Wilson, Trevor Siemien, and Mike White
Even if Rodgers goes down, I think between him and Tyrod, neither of them will be as bad as that group
I think 9-8 is a pretty reasonable low end if everyone's healthy.

That's right where the Vegas line is set. 9.5 wins is -162, 9 wins or less a modest +132. Some duct tape and an explosive play or two from Breece Hall and/or Garrett Wilson has been enough to win most games in the past two seasons. I'd be playoff confident with Gardner Minshew or if we'd brought back Sam Darnold...they're below-average but not Zach Wilson bad.
