Forget all this Giannis and Durant stuff for a minute. What moves can make to add depth without sacrificing our core?

Depth is getting overrated now.
Do the Pacers and Thunder really have that great depth, or do their coaches just use what they have better than Thibs? They have a couple very good bench players, but nobody that amazing.
Pacers’ main bench players are Mathurin, McConnell, Obi, Sheppard, and Bryant. They also start Nembhard and Nesmith, who are solid but nothing too special (outside of Nesmith turning into the antichrist). Our wings should be better than theirs on paper.
Thunder’s main bench players are Wallace, Caruso, Wiggins, Joe, and Williams. They go deeper too. Their starting lineup is obviously great, but they wont keep them all soon and Presti is just an amazing GM.
Point is, these are the teams many are saying have such amazing depth we need to copy? Mainly seems like their coaches just trust their benches more, and will use them all when the situation calls for it, unlike Thibs’ rigid rotations.
If we have a shot at Giannis, and he wants to come here, then this is who we empty the rest of the chest for. Not getting my hopes up, but some of you are nuts if u dont wanna “gut the team” for him. The time is now.
Sure I guess we can see how a new coach does with this team before we blow it up again, but this is Giannis we’re talking about. If he becomes available we have to jump on it.
I didnt see enough from OG, Mikal, Mitch, Hart, and Deuce to make me lose much sleep if some of them are moved for friggin Giannis. They can have or re-route KAT instead if they want obviously, but seems like wed want a big 3 with him.

Yea acting like it’s worth hitting the panic button over having the Suns role players around those 3 is wild. I’d take this any day over what we got now…
Brunson | Tyus | Morris
Grayson | Dunn
Royce | Cody
Giannis | Oso | Bol
Towns | Richards | Mason
If we came out of a Giannis deal with a roster like that, it’s over for the league..

It was mainly for fitting pieces, depth and cap flexibility. None of it was to change the identity of the team as has been for the last 3-4 seasons.
JJJ and Bane for KAT and Bridges would be incredible. Bane is one of the most well rounded and underrated 2 way players in the league. He can back up Brunson even.
JJJ/Mitch/Huk
OG/MLE
Hart/MLE
Bane/McBride
Brunson/Bane
Sick versatility with that lineup.
Way too small of a lineup. JJJ isnt exactly Towns when it comes to rebounding and OG is not a PF. We need to balance order in the lineup.
Shuffle the deck
Mitch
JJJ
OG
Bane
Brunson
Mitch
JJJ
OG
Hart
Bane
All lineups that would see minutes in the game . Rebounding won't be a serious issue.

Yeah, if we did trade OG and Mikal then obviously that would leave a huge hole on the wings, but we can find some other competent 3/D wings much easier than a Giannis.
Mikal was just mediocre this year in general. Maybe a new coach helps him, but he seems insanely soft and weak. I thought we were getting a top 3/D guy who could do some more scoring, but all we got was a middie on offense and defense. 5 picks and a swap for what he showed is a joke, when we had Grimes. Mikal needs to get in the gym and stop caring about the stupid iron man streak if hes going to play like a b*tch.
OG would hurt to lose, so yeah Id like to keep him, but even he just trips all over himself half the time and cant dribble or rebound. Bobbled key passes against the Pacers. His defense and versatility is very good but honestly not as great as I was expecting either. Covering for Jalen and KAT cant be easy, but idk.
Mitch is dominant at times on defense and the boards, but obviously very flawed offensively with injury concerns. Can we trust him or should we cash him out now?
Hart is a great bench player who got overplayed, but I wouldn’t care much if he got moved for a superstar like Giannis. He bounced around the league before he got to us, so we can find another guy. Jalen will get over it.
Deuce is on a awesome deal, but hes just a solid undersized 3/D SG basically.
Like what other players does anyone else have in mind to add to our depth, and how are we getting them? Give me Giannis and we’ll figure out the rest. There is more talent now than ever around the NBA and even the world. Good scouting can find them.

This is a top 2 or 3 player in the entire NBA and he is 7 years younger than Durant. You keep KAT and you keep your shooting too. He is absolutely worth an aggressive package for. Plus we have the tax MLE too and we'd add a depth piece like an Oubre type.

True Warrior . It isnt like you are even saying all those players suck but it isnt like some catastrophic loss if some of them go in a deal for one of the 3 top players in the entire game. I mean Giannis basically does everything on ths court but the 3 ball. His mid range has developed even and is half decent. And Allar is an expert at figuring ways to fill the roster and make it work under the new CBA.

Exactly. They are all solid, but flawed players. OG and Mikal are good starters while Hart, Mitch, and Deuce are great bench players, but nothing I would lose much sleep over or think they’re irreplaceable.
I do wanna see how a new coach uses our current core first ideally, but sometimes life has other plans.
Remember we can stagger our stars more than Thibs did, so the lack of depth isnt so apparent. Towns was doing great in the playoffs alongside Deuce, Hart, and journeymen like Delon and Shamet.
We’re cool with paying OG and Mikal like 40 mill each? I didnt wanna gut the team for Mitchell, but I would for Giannis.
The sad thing is we used so many picks on Mikal. Such a blunder so far, but maybe he can be salvaged. On paper OG and Mikal should be almost perfect next to Jalen and KAT on the wings. They were supposed to be among the top 3/D wings just hitting their primes on the market, but neither their 3 or D was as elite as Id hoped.
This is all probably moot anyway. Highly doubt we get Giannis, but after firing Thibs it’s clear we’re going to be aggressive and push all our chips in soon. Giannis is one of the few guys Id do it for.

this guy doesn't know what he's talking about
Bridges would require us adding Hart and Mitch into the trade for KD...which would be a laughably bad trade for the Knicks.
OG would need Mitch included as well...another horrible trade for KD.

Booker, washed n broken Beal, 37 year old KD isn’t the same as Brunson, Giannis, KAT. Come on now
Depth is getting overrated now.
"...but nobody that amazing." But how many TRULY AMAZING bench players are in the NBA? Can you name 5? 3? And what counts as "Truly Amazing"? Steph Curry level? LeBron Level? Jokich level? Elfrid Payton Level?

If all it takes is Mikal plus fillers... no-brainer
Would take a lot of filler or maybe a third team that wants to dump salary?
Somebody start working on that 30 team trade!
