by bringing in defenders, by getting high IQ guys, by bringing in two way players and by winning some damn games were gonna build a team that plays the right way and may be lacking some talent but is moving in the right direction

we get 20something mil more next summer to add another star, if we can, or further develop the squad

Im on board with this as a non-quick fix approach

Plus he's maintaining roster flexibility. If this group is a dud, we can hope that AA and D-Will opt out, giving us close to 2 max slots. All if not most of our contracts have positive value and can be traded. Big difference from the last era where we're hamstrung from making any trades because our only trade fillers were guys on terrible deals.

Phil is changing the culture and making it an attractive place to get that big star next to Melo. Why would anyone want to come to this team? If we can show that KP and Grant have a future in this league, possibly trade Calderon at the deadline for anything beneficial then we actually have a chance at getting someone. Playing in New York isn't what is used to be. Good players can get endorsements and be a face in the NBA from any team nowadays. New York weather is mostly cold and the Media will destroy you whether your an all star or not, these aren't selling points without over paying. If we can grab the 8th seed and show we have a plan for the future that will attract someone for the ride. We are not winning a title this year either way.
If this team gets the 7th seed and avoids Clev in the playoffs then we have a pretty good chance of making some noise

no one in the east is that great after Clev

Chi is health dependent and has a new coach
Atl seems to be fools gold IMO
Wash and Tor are beatable
Mia scares me but only if Wade and Barsh are healthy and thats a big if

If NY meets Chi in the playoffs and we win 3 games we are a much sexier destination than this summer

Tommy Dee actually breaking some news this summer!

How did they trick GS to taking Gerald Wallace. I am sure Wallace is less but god is he awful. David Lee could be productive if your going to pay this tax. Has to be 1st rounders involved.

Wallace makes 5M less than Lee. Unless they were trading him into cap space, this is best case scenario for them cap-wise. Lee was a good soldier this year, and they promised him they would send him to a better situation for him.

Sullinger and Lee seem to be a pretty bad fit, right? and we were rumored to be interested in Sullinger...

Milwaukee is going to be scary defensively. The problem with this is that alot of teams will be better this year that think they can steal this 7th or 8th spot. Charlotte will be better, Orlando will be better, Pistons could go either way, Pacers will be better even with the transition.

It's been a long time and the Knicks have been killing me forever man.... I honestly feel Phil is just doing a complete rebuild by telling us what we want a hear. Then doing what he wants to do in a rebuild because I can't see Melo as part of our plan. I may be proven wrong over time.. I no longer care about being wrong for I have been a Knicks Fan since my Ewing Day's :banghead: I see Melo doing the power move somewhere with Lebron. It has to happen for him to compete with the Spurs new Roster. My bad just went vent type mode

this deal would save the GS warriors 5 million in cap space. Since they are in the luxury tax I believe they pay 2 for 1. So the deal could save the GSW approx 15 million dollars. That is not chump change for an owner.

Is there any team with cap space that was interested in acquiring Lee? cause if not, an expiring 10M contract was best case scenario for Warriors.

maybe they were going to stretch Lee. 5 million over the next 3 years. And boston said hey we will save you 2 million on the cap the next few years and a few million in savings if we just swap them.

I understand money talks, and it saves owner some money to stretch, but that is a bad idea. If Warriors play their cards right they could have a max slot open next off-season or the one after that and be an extremely attractive destination for a super star. They should be trying to maximize cap space and turn themselves into a dynasty.

they may not stretch him. If they don't it still saves the owner like 15 million in salary and tax penalties I think.
