Help with Melo jersey please!

Post#1384 » by BAYAREAKNICK » Thu Apr 7, 2011 6:24 pm

I'm trying to find a white melo adidas swing man jersey. I tried ordering from nBA shop online but it says it will take 10 weeks to leave the wear-house . I tried calling the New York NBA store like I did for my amare jersey but it says they are in the process of moving to a dif location . Anybody know where I can call and have a jersey shipped to Cali sooner than online ? Trying to have a melo jersey for the playoffs . Any help is appreciated thanks!

Had I seen this I probably could've helped you avoid this. My suggestion would've been to root your phone, and then you could've backed up everything with Titanium backup.

To be honest, rooting your phone for the purposes of backing everything up is a good idea regadless, but when you do that, you can then avoid issues like yours and unlock the power of your phone but installing new community-developed ROMs.

LOL

I've been trying to get rid of my Melo jersey for a few weeks now. It's a white Melo AUTHENTIC. If you're interested, I'll sell it to you on the cheap.

They sell them at the Garden, a whole bunch. There is a small shop right before you get to the ticket booth.

I've had various smartphones for a decade now, most of them made by Palm, earlier on, and then HTC later on, and rebranded by one carrier or another.

Now I roll with an old man Blackberry, preferring the tactile keyboard to pressing 3 letters at a time on the iPhone's touch screen with my giant paws.

This has not stopped my friends and family who all got iPhones just last year from making fun of me at every opportunity, pretending I call airlines for plane tickets and wear a pager or something.

My friends and family are a-holes. :(

madvillian wrote:Burke was responding to a specific historic event (the French Revolution) that he felt had torn away the "decent drapery of life", ie rules, regulations, pomp and circumstance, institutions, etc. This was a classical conservatism that was anti-revolution in nature. Burke saw people dying left and right for the revolution and he responded in kind.

You are right, Burke's conservatism has little (if anything) in common with the Tea Party or NeoCons that dominate conservatism today.

I don't necessarily agree with Burke's reasoning, as Thomas Paine famously said, "Burke pities the plumage but forgets the dying bird". By that he meant Burke was concerned about the loss of institutions and order but forgot that the end (saving France from itself) justified the means.

More relevant perhaps to today's situation in American politics is what Madison wrote in the Federalist Papers about faction. In perhaps the most prescient of his insights:

He defines a faction as "a number of citizens, whether amounting to a minority or majority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adverse to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community." He identifies the most serious source of faction to be the diversity of opinion in political life which leads to dispute over fundamental issues such as what regime or religion should be preferred.

I could go on and on about this and he also famously said, "liberty is to faction what air is to fire". Basically if you make everyone "equal" before the law you're going to have a disparate number of outcomes in opportunity and wealth accumulation. Note that he was writing at the dawn of capitalism as well. If anything, he underestimated capitalism's effect on wealth distribution and faction.

Man, you got me ready to go back to grad school. Haven't essayed on American political thought in a few years since undergrad.

To sum it up, I wish the Tea Partiers would read Burke, Madison, Paine, Hamilton, Locke, Rawls, Arendt, etc before they talk about the "what the founders wanted".

You a Poli Sci person?

I'm sorry it took a day to respond but something came up so I did't really have the time to think up anything.
There's not much to debate with you here; I agree with pretty much everything you typed. One thing comes to mind and that's where you said Burke is anti-revolutionary. He was famously behind the American Revolution (i.e. he supported the revolutionaries) as he viewed their revolution as one with less risk. Half the reason he was opposed to the revolutionaries in France was that he feared they were dwelling into the unknown and essentially gambing their society on the hope that somehow their leaders would bring them to some bright utopia. I think this stems from a fundamental difference between the two revolutions: while the French revolution was a complete overthrow of virtually every instiution of society, the American one was one where the new seamlessly replaced the old. I.e, the Republic replaced the Monarchy, the backwoods yeomen replaced the old planter aristocracy, the Patriot merchants replacd the Tory merchants etc.

I'm not a Political Science guy, I'm actually a Math major, but I'm definitely interested in all of that stuff.
