Hmm .....all it takes is an accusation to be called a rapist even when you are exonerated when you are Derrick Rose meanwhile Ben Roethlisberger AND Peyton Manning are still America's sweethearts....

Ben is far America's sweetheart and Peyton didn't rape anyone he teabggaed a chick on college. I mean is it stupid ya but far from rape just a dumbass prank

In the end... You guys heard the media coverage because your knicks fans and live in new york... the average NBA fan hasn't really heard much of this situation in the media..They mostly heard about the case only when the allegations first came out.. So by half way through this season.. everyone will have forgotten all about this... This is great news for adidas, the nba, the Knicks, and most importantly Rose. Glad everything is back on track... Im ready to see Rose go hard against those guys form Cleveland...

A man putting his scrotum on a woman head goes beyond a dumbass prank ...or atleast it does for a certain segment of our society.

Seems very doubtful for three reasons (IMO):

1. "Post-verdict motions are rarely granted and would require the judge to believe that a major injustice occurred during trial."

2. Lawyers on contingency want a payday. This looks like slim pickings and she has no bankroll to pay anyone.

3. Public shame. Her name and face is out. If he tries to pursue something most of humanity will see as a money grab she risks getting trashed far more and far worse than she already has been (and deservedly so IMO)

#2 I think could still happen because it's a contingent fee. If they really are looking for a major payday, this could be one IF they win. Which is a big IF. That said, I do think it is unlikely but there are options available...even if the door might be closing on them.

Getting an untainted jury pool will be VERY hard now.

That would be a lotto-type lawyer because they are going to put in lots work with a very small chance of getting paid. So if she did attract one I doubt it would be a highly accomplished and already successful attorney with a reputation to maintain. Attracting bottom feeders just puts her one step further away from the unlikely event of winning anything.

She lacks any credibility. I would be really shocked if anyone wants to represent her now without being paid upfront.

doe & her lawyers were banking on a settlement very early, that's how the lawyers were going to be paid. but were taken by surprise when rose nutted up and said he was taking it to trial. why we saw desperate attempts from doe and her team to scare rose into settlement by getting her to do a media tour weeks before the trial and then releasing the "criminal investigation" letter on Knick's media day.

this thing is done. doe has no money. that lawyer isn't going to keep fronting his firm for her. next suit doe will find herself will be due to unpaid legal fees

Yep. In hindsight, I think the odds were stacked well against Doe from the beginning for a bunch of reasons on her end but also because of Rose being a celebrity.

Her current lawyers are shoot for the stars type, it seems. I doubt any powerful attorney takes a swing at this on appeal, so she has her work cut out for her if she wants to find someone new. If she wants to appeal, I can see her current lawyers taking it up (if they really aren't getting any business).

I wouldn't say she lacks credibility - I would say the evidence was against her. That's really it.

Having tuned into this with no skin in the game (actually of the opinion that the accuser likely had a case, in fact) the evidence that appeared late in the game seemed to be the biggest factor. The witness testimony, testimony that she stopped drinking at 11, deleted texts... that's a pretty big mountain of evidence to overcome.

I still stand by my assumption that she gave conditional consent... i.e. she was hoping she could get a longer term in with Rose by conceding certain sexual favors and then became increasingly freaked out when things didn't go that way. She could have genuinely felt "raped" by the situation several months in hindsight but other people can't be held responsible when somebody's expectations of a situation aren't met.

https://thinkprogress.org/the-derrick-rose-rape-trial-is-over-but-its-impact-is-just-beginning-6cf8f5bf241d

This woman is paid to write for a living?

She obviously had already written this well in advance of the verdict.

That she tries to use this trial as an example of "rape culture" is brain dead nonsense.

If anything, this trial should show what happens when a sensible jury is presented with a case of what most clearly looks like a false accusation.

I always want to support innocence until proven guilty, but his case was full of egregious indications of this accuser's sordid contempt for truth.

What an appalling writer. Garbage feminism is real feminism's greatest enemy
