Did I say Lauri was better than Devin Booker?

well maybe you didn’t exactly say he was better but that what was implied you claimed lauri was the only non lateral move and grouped booker in with the likes of murray and og as being that

That wasn’t my intent to imply that.

When I said the comment I was thinking of who fits more to have us win. Booker is redundant with Brunson, Murray not only is the same thing with Booker but he’s a lesser version of Devin, OG is essentially what we need from RJ but we still will need another piece to put us over the top. Lauri may or may not be that piece but he fits the most seamless & damn near solves most of our issues (gives us size, shooting, defense, playmaking).

ah ok copy. i like lauri so i don’t wanna sound like im against the idea. but i think booker is clearly a more preferably target as bigger scoring wing, who can play make a bit and defend. he’s not redundant with brunson at all, that’s one helluva backcourt.. steph and klay lite

Booker is one of the most ideal roster fits in terms of star power and just fit for roster construction you could hope for. A taller 2 that can defend and shoot the heck out of the basketball as well as back up the 1?

He would be better than either Markenen or Mitchell as a significant improvement for this team.

One of RJ or Quickley, Mitchell Robinson, Grimes and a bunch of picks.

Phoenix though I don't think will tear it down so quickly and will probably try and right the ship. 29 games in about 'only' 1/3 of the season and they probably believe/hope they can gel and go on a run.

So I see the vision with Brunson & Booker and even a Brunson/Murray backcourt because they provide the scoring and playmaking, the problem however is those duos are still small & they’re giving up too much on defense.

Booker while he has made improvements defensively doesn’t play locked in on that side for whole games, he really only plays with effort when he’s up to it. Kind of like how Melo used to and we’d convince ourselves Melo was actually a solid defender.

With Murray he’s really good help defending especially with getting steals but 1v1, players blow right past him. If our 3 & 4 was great defensively I probably wouldn’t be so opposed.

Devin Booker Career Playoffs (43 Games)

28-5-5 on 49% FG, 40% 3PT, 89% FT, 60% TS

Even when they lost last year in 6 to the eventual champion Nuggets he was at 34-7-4 on 59/50/87 on 69% TS

To say he would be an improvement efficiency wise to what we have now in 2nd and 3rd options (Randle/RJ) is utterly astronomical.

Booker isn’t that tall for a 2 (he’s 6’4 not 6’6) and he really isn’t a defender like that.

Beggars can’t be choosers so I would just take whoever is available between Booker and Lauri. It’s likely we get neither and end up with bojan bogdanovoch lol

You are severely short changing Booker. See above posts on his playoff efficiency. And while he may not constantly play D, he plays it a whole lot more than Randle, and in his role here under Thibs he likely will play it more consistently.

I’m not in the slightest, I just don’t feel the need to state the obvious to what Booker brings on the offense, that’s a given.

Forget Randle, If Brunson’s defense has been bad under Thibs how is that gonna change with Booker?

I will say this about book though. as great as he is in the post season, he chokes a lot in game elimination games.

2023 game 6 against denver- 12 points
2022 game 7 against mavs - 11 points
2021 game 7 against bucks - 19 points

will still gladly take him on the knicks though.

And I love Murray not sure I love him for the team.

Incredibly gifted offensively and plays really good help defense. Brunson however, makes everything complicated cuz he’s short & got bad defense, so now the next guard you’re putting next to him has to play great defense as well as have the height to compensate.

Bucks have Middleton
Heat have Butler
76ers have Maxey & Melton but get away with it because they have Embiid who is a MVP level player.

I wouldn’t do it cuz I don’t think it gets us closer to being a contender, would be fun to watch tho.
