Curry is the better player in my eyes but Lin abuses him in their match-ups, I was honestly surprised.

holiday has owned curry in matchups, too. random...bleh...i wonder what would have happened if we drafted jrue instead of hill.

edit -- or curry @falstaff haha. either one would have been sick.

16 NBA players average more TPG than Lin (2.9), notably some of the best PGs: Rondo (3.9), Westbrook (3.6), Irving (3.3), Lillard (3.1). Other notable players who average more TPG than Lin: LeBron (the best player in the L/ 3.0), Durant (3.2), Harden (3.8), Kobe (3.6).

He's also one of the best defenders in the L. He doesn't get his steals off gamble (e.g. Allen Iverson did in his career). You drive into the paint from top of key with Lin as defender you lose the ball a good 60-70% of the time. He has quick lightning hands.

Lin's strength is that he's a legit 6'3", so 6'4" in shoes. That makes him ideal in guarding 2s and 3s. I've seen him shut down Lebron, Wade, Kobe, etc. this season.

Agree with you there. He is solid but not great. He still has a hard time with screens and athletic/fast PGs.

By multiplying these numbers by possessions-per-game and determining a value for replacement players, I have ranked the NBA's best by determining Plus Minus Above Replacement (PMAR).

According to these advanced stats, here are 20 candidates for 2012-13 NBA Defensive Player of the Year and the All-Defense teams.

...

THABO SEFOLOSA, THUNDER SHOOTING GUARD, +179.24: David West, Roy Hibbert, Metta World Peace, LaMarcus Aldridge and a dozen other bigs have PMAR scores better than Sefolosha and the guards below, but I wanted to put some Gs on this list since they're legit All-Defense candidates. And the stats here show Thabo is the third best defensive wing in the game (+2.5 defensive RAPM).

TONY ALLEN, GRIZZLIES SHOOTING GUARD, +171.93: The 31-year-old Grizzly has shaped Memphis' second-rated defense into his grind-and-grit image, a style of play that becomes more pronounced with the acquisition of new small forward Tayshaun Prince.

STEPHEN CURRY, WARRIORS POINT GUARD, +168.17: Golden State head coach Mark Jackson called Curry an “elite defender” earlier this season for the way he has defended shooters over the pick-and-roll and the numbers wholeheartedly agree.

JRUE HOLIDAY, 76ERS POINT GUARD, +150.47: The 6-4, 205-pound Sixer has the body to harass smaller PGs and the 22-year-old energy to do so consistently and continually (+1.1 defensive RAPM, second only to Curry, among the major-minutes players).

JEREMY LIN, ROCKETS POINT GUARD, +137.05: With James Harden taking the bigger offensive load, Lin's D has been key in giving Houston a PG who provides high-pressure defense at all times, ranking second in steals. His court IQ and quickness are some of the most underrated aspects of Lin's overall game.

TONY PARKER, SPURS POINT GUARD, +132.39: Unlike Lin, Parker doesn't gamble, posting a +0.9 defensive RAPM while holding foes to a 13.7 PER. Parker not only provides the offensive blueprint to younger point guards on how to run pick-and-rolls, he also displays the defensive blueprint as well.

Lol Lin haters, QUIT LYING !!! 8-)

I'm happy for Lin. You don't do what he just did against a top team unless you're a legit special player.

Contract not looking so ridiculous now is it.

What's sad is, if the Knicks were in that situation and Melo was doubled, the guy taking that open 3 pointer would be JR Smith. smh

Lin's a decent defender. Has trouble against quicker guards, but so do most PGs in the game. Doesn't look like he gets low enough on his defensive stance imo. I think he can improve his PnR defense and help defense.

In other news, Rockets just got Thomas Robinson. I do think he's Morey's piece for Josh Smith. If Rockets get Josh Smith (DH12's best homo-sapien friend), then DH12 will sign with Rockets as free agent. Maybe trade Asik to Lakers as sign and trade.

Rockets:
C - Dwight Howard
PF - Josh Smith
SF - Chandler Parsons
SG - James Harden
PGod - Jeremy Lin

Oh what a team can do when the owner just shuts the **** up and let his GM do his thing like Alexander letting Morey do his. We have idiot owner who's worried more about which players he can get to play golf together.

They won't have the capspace to sign Dwight if they get Smith and keep him

They wouldn't need Howard. Lin/Harden/Parsons/Smith/Asik would be a very good starting 5.

Jeremy's a 1, why would he guard Kobe or James during the whole game? You don't make much sense man

Lin's a smart, crafty defender with good anticipation.

Lin's D is a positive, not a weakness.
