What does Collison do that Toure Murray couldn't potentially do?

Bullock plays the 3 he is a SF, probably would do a better job than Shump. Better yet we wouldn't even have to play him.

Ive never seen the Clips play him at the 3 but ill take your word for it. At UNC his handle was suspect has he improved? I don't see how this trade is relevant or will revive us. Collison is going to be going under screens & we'll still be switching on everything. Might as well just bench Felton & play/start Toure. It'll save us a lot of trouble

It isnt an ideal trade to begin with, since I read that Collison has an opt out clause after this season, but you do shed more salary for after the 2015 season.

Shump was untradable because he was going to be a star now best we can do is swap him for another bench player who got a chance awhile ago and over achieved. At some point we have to realize that young players get caught up in the lights in NYC and ride a wave of emotion. They get a chance to shine because of the many holes in our starting 5.

We traded for mobley who had a bad heart and never played once or again, TD got a shot

We traded for tmacs contract and rented him

We traded for bukie who was never a pro player again,.. Fields got a shot

He walks, we draft Shump,.. Shump gets a shot

We have not had a shooting guard in a long time. We draft or sign these young men, and throw them in the starting lineup,... really due to lack of choice. And they ride the wave. Get hot and get a name going for themselves.

Instead of us trading that kid, while he is in the spot light glowing, for a real pro,... we stick with the kid as a starter. And when it comes crumbling down, it happens fast and usually does not get rebuilt.

Right now, THJR has a solid serviceable skill set that we are burning up because we have NOTHING else. If we want to win AND have some good solid young talent, we need to get some professionals in the starting lineup.

We need 3 starters. Trade these star struck kids when they are hot for pros who can play. Then we can begin to stock up the bench with young hopefuls like shump and THJR. And actually keep and develop them into rotation guys.

If Bullock sucks he sucks, he is on a rookie contract, we can always trade him. Point is that we are dumping salary and getting a slighty better PG in return that doesn't affect our 2015 cap space.

This is the perfect deal a win now move and a long term move

Wow. it came doen to dumping for a 1.3 million dollar cap space? really we are something. no wonder the whole league loves trading with us.

First, we do get the better point guard,

Second, we have a glut of shooting guards and, here, we are getting a bigger body that has the potential of guarding the larger 3s around the league, unlike any of our players, with the ability to shoot. Bullock's numbers mean nothing to me this season given he has not even gotten an opportunity yet on a veteran laden team. We all know he can shoot and has the body to defend. Moreover, and most importantly, he is not up for an extension until 2016/2017.

Third, we do get Felton's contract off the books.

This is a winning deal from all angles. I really don't see Shumpert becoming anything more than a good three and D two guard given his seriously loose handle and complete inability to finish at the rim but I do hope he proves me wrong.

No Woodhead is just a **** idiot

Shump is gonna average 12 a game just off Chris Paul & Doc loves him, he called him the best player in the Knicks/Celtics Series.

This is gonna end up like all the other personal moves the Knicks have made during the past 15 years.

If I could trade Shump JUST to dump Felton AND JR in one deal, I would do it any day. Those 3 players combined will make like $15 mil in 2015. And we get rid of a lot of the short-term garbage too.

And for those that think Collison is the same or marginally above Felton this season, should review these metrics asap:

http://bkref.com/tiny/oST9E

Fun comparisons

Collison: ORTG: 112; DRTG 106
Felton: ORTG: 100; DRTG 111

Lol.

this trade would benefit the clippers more than the knicks. Even with his struggles Shump is a much more productive player than dudley and gives them the much needed wing defense they've been looking for. If this trade went down look for Shump's pt averages to rise just off the wide open looks hell get from the doubling of Griffin & CP3

The key is we unload Felton for 2015.

To be fair, Felton would be a decent backup wherever he might go so teams are driving the price of Felton's stock lower than it actually is to rape us harder. No team is taking back Felton in any package with the idea of making him their starter. Teams just want us to give up draft picks because they know theres a good chance that it's a lottery pick, especially if we overpay.

Almost sounds like the Knicks don't know about the spread provision. Felton's cap hit would be just $1.3M in 2015. That's not worth trading Shumpert. Unless Dolan just refuses to eat salaries like that anymore.

He used to spend more. Maybe the Great Recession has closed the MSG Vault.

But this would just be eating one year of $4.5M and you don't have to have Felton on your roster. It's not a ton of cash for him.

I dont think anyone outside of felton is driving his trade value down. He blows. Another factor may be that he has 2 years after this season left on his contract.

that can't be a key. you can stretch his deal for a mere 1.3 million cap hit.

He's a good catch and shoot player and has potential to be a good defender. Of course he could be a bust but we have time to develop him. Scrubpert is already a bust with no room to develop.
