Fisher: In Games (Live)

Post#141 » by Buttah304 » Wed Feb 3, 2016 3:39 am

Let me start off by saying witnessing Derek Fisher live is a whole other level of embarrassment. Its one thing to watch him on TV when you can barely see the bench, but it's a whole other phenomenon when you have to suffer the agony of his laziness at MSG. This is the 6th year in a row I've had season tickets (back when posters on this board were called Abe & Paco), and seeing him refuse to get off the bench is sickening. This isn't Pop. This isn't Carlisle. This isn't even Spo. This is a 2nd year coach coming off the worst year in the history of our franchise and game in and game out his legs stay glued to the bench. He routinely gets up at the oddest times (after a Knick player shoots his first free throw) or when he's calling Sasha's name (go figure). It's bad enough to deal with a coach whose horrendous at play calling, and even worse to see one who truly thinks we have a 10-11 man rotation. But seeing Brad Stevens pacing up and down the court, calling out plays, pointing out screens, and actually trying to be strategic had me so disappointed in what we have to deal with in Fisher. This isn't the growing pains anymore. We're not figuring things out. We simply have a coach who isn't yet ready. I know our issues are heavily predicated in our lack of guards and overall play making ability. But when you have a coach like Fisher, who refuses to have the pulse of his team it's down right sad. From where I was sitting I saw a guy whose collecting his fat pay check wearing a sharp brown suit. Dont get this twisted. Fisher is nothing more then a made guy without an actual brain. Worst part is hell most likely never been on the hot seat as he actually should be.

Fair enough but isn't the problem that not giving Fish a free pass means not giving himself a free pass?

I'd really like to hear something from Phil...maybe a sound bite about how he feels the season is going so far. Can I get something? Anything?

Galloway doesn't show up again. This guy is too much of a listening to the coach type. When you going to try and make something happen?

F**k this coach, seriously....

Agree 100%

Yeah I also agree. Fish is a good guy but he is not a professional coach. It still boggles my mind that phil gave him this job.

These rookies always hit walls though Fat Kat. Yeah he hasn't been as good as he was earlier but also yeah the rookie wall hits these guys right around the all star break too. It is what it is. He kind of spoiled us though too.

I agree. The kid's great. I just don't want people to get too defensive. They're making it everyone's fault but his. Everyone gets criticized around here and it's ok.

How its his fault that he played max 50 games in a season, not half a season, on a way slower pace with less minutes?

Something with riddles, we won 17 games last season & have made an improvement, we're a rebuilding team, yadda, yadda, yadda, KP, something else, cap space coming up.

I see we've got Detroit and Memphis coming up. Those look like 2 probable L's to me so we're most likely looking at a record of 23-30...I don't see us making the playoffs

The Knicks clearly lack necessary pieces...but can anyone explain Fisher's rotations? Maybe he's basing it on what players are doing in practice, but how did Lou and O'Quinn end up sitting, and Serafin end up getting minutes? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Lou and O'Quinn are better than Serafin, just that I see no rhyme or reason with his substitution pattern.

I am crazy then -- but probably it's just because I think Phil is not going to get rid of Fish if he does not see any suitable replacement. And also ego of an 11-ringer...

Besides Melo and maybe AA. Everybody else needs a creating point guard to be effective. Yet we don't have one. The triangle can only work so much. You need an attacking pg that makes things easier for everyone else.

How many offensive rebound Seller got just op from us getting broken down. Smh

Fisher would make an excellent assistant coach to a legit coach, he needed to learn before he came here.

If this team doesn't have a winning record this time next year Phil will fire him. Bookmark it.

Lol, that's probably how it would go, but I hope he gives us something with some actual substance. I want him to be real with us and tell us what he actually thinks about the season so far. I don't want some sh*t from Rosen, I want it straight from the man himself

In reality we need to tear it down before building it up. It easy for Boston to trade picks when they own so many other teams picks. Turn Lopez, Afflalo and even Carmelo into picks so next time were ready to contend, in 2 or 3 years, we have extra picks to build it up.

It's a process. Until James Dumbass accepts that we will continue to be a joke.

You didn't address the original point Is it wrong to trade picks or or wrong to trade picks for garbage?

You know why Ainge got that pick?? Because CLE was dying to dump Zeller to offer Lebron a max. They were one of a few teams with cap space. How many teams will have cap space in 2016? 2017? You aren't getting picks for salary dumps the next few years.

There is no such thing as building the right way. There are just good and bad architects. Draft. Trades. FA. Use all of them to make the best team possible.

They wanted to dump Jack, not Zeller. But anyway, they collect picks and then deal them. Sure, it's a process but the process starts with liquidating win now assets for future picks. The Knicks have ignored this for 15 years.

Before the Knicks trade a 2018 1st for an average PG, no matter how big an upgrade that would be, they should move Melo and rebuild the right way.

They paid a 1st to dump Zeller, not to trade Jack to BKN. Thats what they paid. They also got rid of Jack in the deal. But they paid to dump Zeller.

You are not getting that type of deal this summer or the next.

Did GSW liquidate win now assets? Nope. They actually moved two picks to get their finals MVP in FA.

Guess what BOS is trying to do with these picks? Make a trade for a stud. But you want to dump a stud for no reason than just to pigeon hole yourself to one method of roster construction.

When you say the right way, it means you've learned the wrong things about team building.
