Why not though?? I've come around in kanter, if we could establish him as our backup center at seasons end i would love for him to comeback.

That's what I got. They'd consider bringing him back at the right price point.

Same with Hezonja. They spoke about both guys in the same context.

"These guys want to prove that they can be here long term"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they didn't bring up Mudiay at all in that context. Sounds like they weren't impressed.

the whole crutches thing is sort of a gimmick. if you really couldn't walk without crutches, you could never play basketball. and if a player any of use cared about in the least did that during a meaningless season we would be screaming bloody hell at management for even allowing it.

Instantly the best back up big in the league. Gotta be the right price and by right price I mean 1/4 what hes making if he love NY so bad.

I can tell you right now he was trying to say they won’t trade them wildly. Also disagree with your point about Kanter and Lee. Kanter is probably our best overall player right now on paper. That is asking a lot for a guy like Mitch to surpass him and he didn’t even play in college. Mitch will have growing pains but saying we better not see Kanter don’t make sense to me.

Lee can be in that same discussion because behind Hardaway there isn’t a better SG than him (on paper) no matter how old he is if we’re a competitive in camp I doubt Lee is playing like trash compared to the younger guys who he had experience over. With that said I would love to see all the young guys get burn but not if we are just handing it to them. If someone plays better than Kanter great, if someone plays better better than Lee great. The highest possibility is Mitch going off because he actually has talent. Roll the ball out who want it. No hand outs.

Again if we could throw all the young guys out and see what they can do great. I wish that was the case but Kanter is young (although not the youngest) and legit on the offensive side of the ball where we need a lot of help. I hope the young guys emerge.

also I'm not saying don't play the vets. I don't see where you got that idea. But playing them a majority of minutes also makes no sense. They also keep talking about setting a defensive presence you simply can't do that with Kanter on the floor...sorry. He's going to play a decent amount I totally get that. But if we ever want to change the defensive footprint of the team we need to start limiting his minutes...he's that atrocious on that side of the ball.

I agree with you !00%. I personally think he should be coming off the bench. However unless you want Mitch to get eaten alive we have to ease him in. I know its just basketball but these kids need to develop their body as well.

fair...I just need to see a plan set forth for development and minutes for the young guys so we can see who is a keeper and who isn't this is the time with KP out where wins come second to play development.

thats kanter though, he has developed a great image to fans. A guy that works hard, talks about NY as being his home. He endears himself to the fans through the media...but realistically he aint a keeper.

I want to see it too. Thats why it was refreshing to hear Mills say guys have to be better than they were at the start of the year. Fiz also mentioned what separate the GOATS from the average is they apply a move or try to fix their weakness right away instead of waiting. Frank better get on it.

yeah. the most important thing is the years. one year deals for him only. it's not even a slight at him. it's just not smart to be tied down with multi year deals for mediocre role players.

I would not have believed this development crap if we still had the likes of Kurt Rambis. The fact the staff is all development guys makes me even more excited.

Doesn’t keeping Kanter pretty much eliminate the max roster spot?

Yeah, they are saying all the right things as usual (except bringing back Kanter). But it is going to be tough to turn that corner as a franchise. Our margin for error in free agency next year is going to be slim. 1 bad move can screw us so hopefully we have some good plans and backup plans.

Obviously, the coaching staff sees things in Kanter that you all are unwilling to see because of all the hate in your darkened hearts. Kanter is the James Brown of basketball. :P
