Maybe Kyrie gets hurt for a while, maybe they don't gel, but the optimum situation from my perspective is not a total dumpster fire (even though it would be entertaining). I personally don't need the Nets pairing a potential cornerstone draft pick with Durant in 2020. Let them be middling, please - somewhere in the last year's Nets to last year's Celtics range.

For real... Imagine if they just miss the playoffs and then pull a Pelican in the lottery.

They'd return with a #1 and Durant...

So you telling me that after saying this was our worst offseason in forever, you now see the big picture here on why we made these deals for cap space flexibility in case someone like Kawhi wants to come....

You’re welcome -3toheadperry

Ever trade for FRPs this summer has involved expiring deals or flexibility. Got another narrative?

Stop it... :)

yeah. the whole starting lineup is built to run. if we're not doing that as much as possible, fire fiz immediately.

Screw Lance Thomas.

The following guys (who I still show as available) for one reason or another makes more sense IMO:

Vets for Leadership and Mentoring:

Vince Carter - look if there's one guy that you want to "mentor" RJ Barrett that also happens to be a great veteran and lockerroom guy...and is available for nothing more than just money...it's Vince Carter.

Loul Deng - another long time vet that could help the young guys develop their game, consummate professional, super hard nose no nonsense guy. He could also do wonders in helping Barrett with the none flashy basics.

Amir Johnson - another long time NBA vet that could provide great mentorship and lockerroom presence for the Knicks bigs.

Young Guys with Some Upside:

Cheik Diallo- athletic high energy young player, sign him to a min deal and see what you have.

Jonathan Motley - former Oregon star never really got a chance with the Clips. Big, athletic long armed big man that can shoot a little, run the floor and finish. Was the Clippers 2-way player last season.

Insurance Vets:

Justin Holiday - if we are going to bring back a former Knick I'd rather Justin Holiday than Lance Thomas. Holiday might actual serve some use.

Shelvin Mack - gives the team some depth at PG, he's the perfect 3rd string PG.

Erick Moreland - he's a big aggressive energy/rebound type guy, great for practice

Lance Thomas has done **** in NY.

He's holding out hope that Kawhi bucks the trends and signs with the Knicks for the room exception so he can change it to 3toheadkawhi.

Man now I start thinking what if KD stayed healthy goes to the Knicks and we trade for AD and/ or get Kyrie

That team is as good as anyone next year.

Ah well

If the Knicks can find someone that can teach or motivate Randle to play defense consistently he could be an All-Star. He's extremely, extremelytalented offensively.

Berman: After the meeting Dwyane Wade called to criticize his younger Bulls teammates for not working hard enough after a loss, Portis stared him down and told him: "You might be a better player, but don’t ever challenge my work ethic." He accused Wade of not working hard enough by not practicing.

Speculated: Kawhi going back to Toronto on a 2 year deal?! Ugh...Kawhi 2021 watch begins. We have 2 years to look legitimate.

This day and time you can play no defense and still make the all star team.

Sort of reminds you of shorter arm Zach R. or just Amare. Hopefully not as turnover prone or most of all hurt.

But he's a gifted scorer and seems to have an understanding of team offense. With him and Portis though, they are spectators on defense and that bothers me.

I think the Knicks are sort of like ... Mitch will do everything anyway. Might be some validity to that. But these dudes need to be moving. I'm tired of watching statues like Melo and Amar'e were.

I'm with you on Amir or some other C. I know the nba has gone away from bigs but I feel like we need another true C other than Robinson.

So let's get Kawhi next summer. Maybe the Knicks knew that might happen.

I bet KD would love to back out and do a 1+1, risks notwithstanding. Yeah I do.
