Screw Lance Thomas.
The following guys (who I still show as available) for one reason or another makes more sense IMO:
Vets for Leadership and Mentoring:
Vince Carter - look if there's one guy that you want to "mentor" RJ Barrett that also happens to be a great veteran and lockerroom guy...and is available for nothing more than just money...it's Vince Carter.
Loul Deng - another long time vet that could help the young guys develop their game, consummate professional, super hard nose no nonsense guy. He could also do wonders in helping Barrett with the none flashy basics.
Amir Johnson - another long time NBA vet that could provide great mentorship and lockerroom presence for the Knicks bigs.
Young Guys with Some Upside:
Cheik Diallo- athletic high energy young player, sign him to a min deal and see what you have.
Jonathan Motley - former Oregon star never really got a chance with the Clips. Big, athletic long armed big man that can shoot a little, run the floor and finish. Was the Clippers 2-way player last season.
Insurance Vets:
Justin Holiday - if we are going to bring back a former Knick I'd rather Justin Holiday than Lance Thomas. Holiday might actual serve some use.
Shelvin Mack - gives the team some depth at PG, he's the perfect 3rd string PG.
Erick Moreland - he's a big aggressive energy/rebound type guy, great for practice
Lance Thomas has done **** in NY.
