We got a 2nd rounder for free, who cares what Boston does anyway that team is in the shittuer for the foreseeable future we need to worry more about us

I think Boston with Tatum and Green has a much better core than the Knicks do.

How close are we to the apron ? Since we’re now hard capped, doesn’t it make trades very difficult ?

No, it wasn't for free... the Knicks gave a division rival and direct competition for a playoff spot a big fat exception they might be able to use to get much better when they wouldn't have been able to add another player with them being capped out.

It may turn out to be nothing if they don't use it or if they get a player that doesn't make that much of a difference but I guess we will find out how much of an opportunity they gave the Celtics if or when they use it. So it wasn't quite 'for free'.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

When a team becomes hard-capped, it cannot exceed the “tax apron” at any point during the rest of the league year. The tax apron for 2021/22 was set at $143,002,000.

Currently right now we are projected to be at $118 MM so we aren't anywhere close to the tax apron so being hard capped really doesn't effect us because no way can we add another 25 MM anyway.

basically the knicks saw this as a way to get a free 2nd rounder. Even though they did help the celtics gain a 17 MM TPE. But if you can get a 2nd rounder for free and they know the hard cap wont be in play seems like a no brainer.

I don’t think the Celtics are gonna use it. It seems they plan to have cap space in 2022. Not sure if smarts new contract affected that.

Smart will make a little more then he currently does maybe a few million.

I The celtics wont have a lot of cap space but they probably will have some so they could potentially use it to get a 1 year contract.

Horford deals still has 14.5 MM of guaranteed money even if they let him go so Tatum and Brown make nearly 60 next year. You put smarts 17 and Horford approx 15. You are already norht of 90 MM. Then all there young players and draft picks put them over 100 MM.

With the cap around 120 MM they might have not much left. They might be better of starter over to have there full MLE available to them.

I wonder if they plan to pay to dump horford eventually. I assumed they were after beal. Him and Tatum are tight. Seems kind of obvious.

Horford is considered a negative asset though right? Like not as bad as Kemba's deal was at the time. But on top of trading assets for Beal they would also have to pay Washington to eat that last year if that is a trade.

I guess the wizards could have interest in Nesmith and Pritchard but those guys can't headline a deal. How many picks do the celtics have to get it done?

It would make no sense for them to trade Jaylen Brown. He probably has better value than Bradley Beal right now.

They find more players like McBride we might be the best team in the nba in the future with all the second rounders lol.... we draft better in the 2nd then first snd rose knows that. Also cheaper and non guaranteed deals. Eventually 2nd rounders are going to be more valuable when they see what the Knicks are doing ( if the plans works”

Honestly though it’s weird knicks doing most things right.

I love it I was like wow we gave up two picks... what’s new. Then we actually gained a second pick ... the other is top 55 protected

Does anybody know how many and what round picks we got in the next 5 years?

I smell stash player!!!!!! Yes!!! Finally a good farm we are going to have.
