It looked like they wanted him and IQ if you remember the maneuvering they traded for two late first-rounders when Maxey and IQ were both available. Then Maxey got taken and they took IQ higher than most mocks had him and got mocked by the media for it.
Considering their ties to Kentucky and the fact that backcourt never got to experience March Madness where experts had them doing well.... I legit think the plan was to grab Maxey and IQ and replicate that Kentucky backcourt.

Evan got us off to a great start and then it got contagious. Everyone else started hitting threes. We were never really threatened by the Kings. Gotta feel bad for Alvin Gentry who's a good coach. He's got nothing to work with except Fox, Haliburton, and Mitchell.
