If someone says something that someone else doesn’t find funny, they have every right not to like what was said. That's how comedy has worked for ages and it's a good system. Shai didn't find it funny. I can't tell him how to feel about something

It’s called having a sense of humor.

Nobody insulted his family. They’re making fun of his sneakers and he’s a millionaire.

These guys are WAY too soft nowadays and take even the slightest criticism to heart. Brunson is one of the few players in today’s era who will hear someone criticize his game and go out there and try to be better instead of whine about it.

We are so lucky to have down to earth players. I have a buddy that used to bounce in the top Vegas clubs and he says by and large NBA players are sensitive azzholes. I kinda get it , since most of these guys have had people fawning over them since a very young age. I guess they really start to believe they are superior humans.

He said NFL players were usually way more grounded in comparison..

Yup. He can only think of the most gimmicky dumb **** solutions.

Letting TNT have a circle jerk during the ASG in a format where the starting PG of the East only plays 6 minutes in a horribly thought out format is as bad as it gets.

Humor is 100% subjective though. It doesn't matter if Hart was talking about his shoes, the dude didn't find it funny and didn't laugh. That's how comedy works whether you like or not.

This notion that everyone has to find humor in the same exact thing is really weird.

I'm not a big fan of Ricky but this is the truth (and where I get the phrase "it's a good system" from):

Read on Twitter

This is comedy in a nutshell. Kevin told a joke. Shai found it not to be funny and visibly showed that on TV. It is what it is. No one is entitled to receive laughs from people that don't think their joke is funny.

Comedians bomb every day b.

Edit: awhile back we all had a conversation about Bill Burr on here and I posted a clip of Bill making a racial joke about how Black ppl and White ppl tell stories. I found it hilarious. Someone chimed in and voiced their displeasure because Bill made a comment to the extent of "This f*cking Asian over there" during the joke.

That person had every right to not find humor in that.

Humor is subjective. Some people will crack up at mean jokes about trans people. I don't find it funny. There's nothing wrong with that.

They should go East/West and decide home court for the finals.

I think that sounds great in theory, but an all-star on a lower seed team might not care that much for homecourt in the Finals. All they're doing is helping their conference rivals win a championship.

Money to me feels like the only way to get these guys to care.

Also, you're going to end up with only players from the top seeded teams in each conference playing in the last minutes of the game, because they are the ones with everything at stake.

If they had done it this way for this year, you would only have these guys facing each other during the last quarter

Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, Darius Garland
vs
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Jaren Jackson Jr, Nikola Jokic, Alperen Şengün

Only the first two seeds would be represented in the East, and only the first four seeds would be represented in the West.

I think the timing of the Inside the NBA tribute was way off for sure, that was a head scratcher, but I don’t mind it after all the years they’ve been entertaining us. The Mr Beast thing I thought was cool… giving away 100k to a fan. Was it executed to perfection? No, but I’m not gunna nit pick it too much.

The game itself and the dunk contest, at the root, have failed because the All-Star level players don’t care about it anymore. The league is forced to try to put something together to compensate, but at the end of the day, no matter what they do won’t please everyone and likely piss a lot of people off.

This is what happens when we no longer have guys taking pride in the game and dueling it out to the end like back in the day, or when guys like Vince or even Dwight and Iggy don’t wanna participate and we’re stuck with Jericho Sims or that dude from the Bulls in the dunk contest.

I don’t like a lot of what Adam Silver has done, and I’m not making excuses for him, just sayin the root of all this really is on the guys who just don’t care any more. That’s been the issue for over a decade, the league trying to make up for it and failing in some peoples eyes doesn’t change that. If the same caliber of guys from the 3pt contest joined the dunk contest and the ASG players competed for real, we wouldn’t be seeing all this craziness. We never did before…

No offense dude but this makes no sense.

Self humor is something everyone should have. Nobody should take themselves too seriously.

Those people who can dish it but can’t take it are some of the most annoying people to be around.

It’s not admirable trait. Defending it isn’t the hill to die on.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

What happened is the same thing as ESPN, at the start they had serious discussion with a bit of tomfoolery, but then over time as the market shifted and less and less eyeballs were on cable, they had to ramp up the Flanderization in order to compete, leading to a diminished product. And because things can't just end anymore and executives need to wring out any potential profit, rather than be something people look back on fondly as part of the times, it will continue to limp along getting progressively worse and worse until people finally turn the tv off and it gets axed for not making enough money.

Can't wait til they swap out Chuck for Draymond Green who isn't funny or even fun to listen to because he's a condescending, violent prick who shouldn't be normalized.

I had to fight the urge to mute/walk away during his segments. If he takes the Chuck role, the show is done.

It wasn't the worst for me, you know why? Because I turned off the pathetic farce half way through the first round and didn't even look at the scores until the next day. I found the game poor as usual and the announcing far worse than ever. It's a comeday in basketball clothing. Sorry, it was actually offensive.

Kevin Hart acting incredibly stupid (but not funny), Shaq insulting Bol Bol!!!!!, and SGA got dissed, one of the best in the game today. JFC I hated it.

I'm glad he didn't find it funny.

And they wonder why nobody gave a sh*t about the games

I think the NBA needs to just stop pretending like we're ever gonna get a competitive game again. Just too much risk involved for what's really just an exhibition game in the middle of the season

You just gotta lean into that fact, make it more of a celebration, just have fun with it. Sure the crusty old heads will complain, but they already complain about everything. Like how the NFL made the Pro Bowl into a flag football game, yeah it's not the same but they're all out there having fun

Inside the NBA kinda sucks now. All they do is complain about how soft guys are or whatever, and half the guys on it admit they don't even watch the games. Yet in the middle of the All Star game, we had to take a break to celebrate them, when they're not even retiring, they're just going to a different network. Sh*t's ridiculous.

Inside the NBA is so overrated.

It's not overrated -- that's a weak euphemism for how bad it is. It's clearly all alone at the top of "Worst NBA crew ever." By going for the least common denominator, they are ruining lowering interest in the game overall.
