I hate amnesia plots when they're not the sole focus of the narrative. They're cheap drama devices that do nothing but keep the narrative spinning its wheels to delay things for no reason

Which is why this latest chapter of Dandadan really pissed me off. Cause now it's just drawing things out, I thought it was above such cliches

I'll give it a pass if next chapter or 2 she sees Okarun and he introduces himself as Ken Takakura and that causes the memories to flood back, but even with that, it's just a pointless diversion. Taking anything more than like 5 chapters is gonna really drop my enjoyment of the series.

Why you gonna spoil Season 4 like this?

I don't like it either, but I'll wait to see how the author resolves it. The last 2 chapters were funny at least. But I'm not a fan of the decision so far.

What's everyone gaming on? I am almost finished with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, gonna buy Ghost of Yotei after.

There's a real good Marvel beat em up game coming out soon too for all platforms

Back to movies, specifically horror.

Thought Sinners and Weapons were excellent.

Haven't watched "Bring Her Back" yet, but that's on deck. A friend of mine recommended it besides all the favorable reviews and we generally like the same stuff and he almost never likes sub par movies.

Rewatching It 1&2 in preparation for "Welcome to Derry", whenever that comes out. Late Fall? I have it in my notes somewhere.

Up next though, is "Good Boy", that horror movie told from the dog's point of view. Been looking forward to that for a few.

Just watched the Chainsaw Man movie. Man, that was not what I expected. I left that theater feeling super sad, way more than I ever felt watching Demon Slayer in theaters.

Man…

I don't know how I never knew about Kingdom before

It's really good. First 2 seasons have some god-awful CGI, but everything after that is absolute fire

I do wish they hadn't censored the anime, like reading the manga and seeing the gore makes it hit harder. It's not excessive or edgy, but it does add to the feel

Also, just a weird adaptation thing, where the names of the characters are translated in the subtitles to their Chinese names, but spoken as their Japanese names. So it's kinda hard to track who's who

Other than that and the wonky CGI, I definitely recommend it for anyone looking to get into a long-running show. Season 6 is airing right now, with well over a hundred episodes, plus I think 900 chapters I'm gonna be catching up on.

10/10. Nothing else beyond that. I'd put it as the top anime film I've seen in theaters so far.

Spoiler:
Can't lie, I was a little impatient in the beginning, like "why are we getting all this slice of life stuff?" And then it drew me in and then I was like, "oh shyt, all of it matters."

Crazy how they had me caring about Reze at the end when she's a psychopath and mass murderer. That analogy with the city mouse was haunting. But yea, I was rooting for her and Denji to meet up. I think that might be the issue with Chainsaw Man and JJK. Even though they want you to feel how evil someone is, that impact in lives lost doesn't really get through.

And yea, Makima is also evil as eff, in a different way. I feel for Denji...I hope his story ends well, but it seems like he's too innocent to survive.

Spoiler:
The slice of life build up is what really sold it. Once Reze chokes that dude out and sings that song in Russian, all hell breaks loose for like a half hour.

I found myself feeling sad for both Denji and Reze. Before things went south I believe she truly meant what she said to him, which is why she went back for him knowing that Makima already has her claws sunk into him.

She got what she deserved at the end, so her crimes didn't go unpunished, but the ending was gut wrenching. Denji wondered if he had a heart, and throughout the film you see that he truly does, only for it to be broken into pieces.

Did you watch the post credit scene?

I highly recommend the film Look Back. It's by the same author and its just as good.

I’ll check it out!

Yea, I watched the post-credit! It still felt sad though…didn’t feel like enough. That whole thing with the going to school, man that was sad.

Is Aki screwed?

Yea, I’m a Makima hater now.

Nah, he'll be fine

Him and Denji have a snowball fight to let their inner children out to heal from some of their trauma. It's super wholesome.

I can't answer any questions about any character without spoiling Season 2

Spoiler:
But yeah "I also didn't go to school" was where it hit home that Reze saw parts of herself in Denji which led to her coming to like him.

The post credit scene was a great

Bring her back was very good but not epic.

But two thumbs up to a horror movie trying to deal with real topics within the horror
