To my eyes, the bench minutes are more a factor of roster construction than anything. You look at the bench guys in the rotation, it's Hart (6'4), Shamet (6'4), Clarkson (6'3), Deuce (6'2), and Kolek (6'1). Those guys have the 5 most total minutes from non-starters for us, and of those 5, Hart is the only one who's kind of a big. This is where Yabusele being out of shape really hurts us, cause if he can't play due to fat, as well as Mitch being made of glass, our only other guy who can maybe play in the rotation as a big is Hukporti, who is really not that good and also injured a lot, but he was a late 2nd round pick for those reasons so it's hard to expect much from him
We don't need to make big moves, we just need to re-balance the roster. Get a big wing to spell Mikal/OG for a few more minutes a game, and get a backup big who can spot start. Ideally those roles would be filled by Dadiet/Yabu/Mitch, but it doesn't look like we can rely on them so far this year
This is a good team, just unbalanced. I'm not worried for when we get to the playoffs.
This is where 3pac being unplayable is such a disappointment.
I will just never understand the people on this board who were adamant he was a great pick because he was willing to sign for slightly less than others would have
If they argued he was young and had potential, okay that's at least an argument people make about guys, but the argument they needed to draft someone at that exact spot who was willing to sign for less will never make any sense to me
I just feel like if rather than doing all these little trades and swapping assets around, if we had just stood pat and drafted guys, we might have found an actual contributor or two by now. The FO isn't bad at drafting at the end of the 1st and early 2nd, I don't get why they just keep punting on it the last few years.
