Would have been interesting to see Lin play on the USAB Select Team. I'm sure guys on the Senior Team would have gone at him tough.

This would have really helped our decision--to see how far along he is.

Just like it would have been nice to see him in the playoffs.. My guess is neither would have been in his benefit though.

This is just all so deflating. For the past few days I've been so excited about this team's future with Lin running the show, and the chance for him to learn from the great Jason Kidd and even Prigioni. It never seemed like the team had time to gel last year; by the time Melo came back, it was just a short period of time before Lin was hurt. But a year of all of them together really could've been something special. Now? We're stuck in a black hole for 3 years. No money to sign anyone of worth; no assets to make a trade. We've got a barely-improved roster from a team that wouldn't have been if the playoffs if it wasn't for Lin last year, one that got destroyed by the Heat in the playoffs. Our only one young talent is out for most of the season. There was so much to look forward to just 24 hours ago. Now? It's just the summer of 2015 can't come fast enough.

The one thing I dont understand is all those years we had 100+ million payroll (when Houston, Shandon Anderson, Easley, Weatherspoon etc) and only winning 30 games nobody said anything about Dolan is having problems paying this high of a payroll

But NOW all the sudden the luxury tax is a big deal? IF we match LIn, lets say our payroll is 90 million for that one year 14-15 and we pay another 40 million in luxury tax which brings it to 130 million. But at the same time we would have a contender with all the money opportunities with Lin. I dont see how this is any diff than paying 100+ million all those years for losing teams, and nobody ever said anything back than about Dolan caring about payroll.

It's just stupid... there are a ton of players worse than Cp3 that you'd still give $15m.

Also, can anybody find SAS's column about why the Bulls shouldn't match Asik?

I've asked this question three times, and have yet to get an answer. Perhaps no one on the board knows, but if we don't match, wouldn't that be a clear indication his value off the court for this franchise could not go any higher? Lin only dramatically improved the value of the franchise when he was playing like a franchise player with game winners and exciting finishes. If he regresses, does he become Yi Jianlin?

Just having him on the team and being Asian is not enough to ensure he makes the Knicks money, right? He has to be as good as he's been to justify this contract, right?

Everything is being done to make sure jeremy isn't exposed before he signs his contract.

Sure seems that way. Very political campaignish, don't give anyone anything to possibly criticize.

from a basketball standpoint ho does that matter?
this franchise hasnt won a chip in 40 years they want to win..

how many players leave great teams on the regular? Well ran organizations do not over pay
unproven players.. veterans that earned it they get there money but 25 games?

lemme see you go to work for 25 days as a Account Exec then say you know what I'm the ish..
make me CEO..

I agree with everything you say. I really don't think he's worth it at all. However, in terms of basketball, we need him.

I wish. There are quite a few members of this board who would argue that Lin is almost as good as Paulif not better already. And there is still all that potnetial....

Knicks should have told him they'll pay 85% of his contract.

In the new CBA, I believe they have to pay 1.5X the over on the cap...Isiah's Knicks didn't have to worry about that. They just paid dollar for dollar whatever they were over.
