Glad to hear he was found not guilty, no settlement, players have done far worse and paid out settlements like Kobe paying millions, hope rose is more careful in the future
Now let's play some ball

This woman is paid to write for a living?
She obviously had already written this well in advance of the verdict.
That she tries to use this trial as an example of "rape culture" is brain dead nonsense.
If anything, this trial should show what happens when a sensible jury is presented with a case of what most clearly looks like a false accusation.
I always want to support innocence until proven guilty, but his case was full of egregious indications of this accuser's sordid contempt for truth.
What an appalling writer. Garbage feminism is real feminism's greatest enemy
She writes:

"This was an ugly, contentious, and complicated case from beginning to end. All parties were caught in lies, and Doe’s legal team was often outmatched by Rose’s. There was no physical evidence, so this was all about testimony, and almost all of it was conflicting."
"Perhaps the only constant was victim blaming."

Yes it's been constant victim blaming from the beginning. Only the victim's name is Derrick Rose...

I wouldn't say she lacks credibility - I would say the evidence was against her. That's really it.
Having tuned into this with no skin in the game (actually of the opinion that the accuser likely had a case, in fact) the evidence that appeared late in the game seemed to be the biggest factor. The witness testimony, testimony that she stopped drinking at 11, deleted texts... that's a pretty big mountain of evidence to overcome.
I still stand by my assumption that she gave conditional consent... i.e. she was hoping she could get a longer term in with Rose by conceding certain sexual favors and then became increasingly freaked out when things didn't go that way. She could have genuinely felt "raped" by the situation several months in hindsight but other people can't be held responsible when somebody's expectations of a situation aren't met.
I was split. I thought she had a bad case given that it was a few years after; I thought she had a good case the moment Rose opened his mouth; but then it seemed like the evidence was just going against her.
As for whether or not Rose did / didn't do it, I'm not going to speak on that (yet?). The only thing that we know for sure is that this jury did not find him liable.

Right, because no real lawyer would take a case with these facts. This dufus thought Rose would cave and throw money at her just to make it go away. I'm glad he took it to trial and was vindicated.
NOW LET'S EAT!

E-balla said it best that the most incriminating testimony came out of his own mouth. Conversely, Doe's "friends" really came through for Rose. Just a bizarre situation. Even peripherally relating to it is a bit weird.
Almost gametime then, I guess.

Hmm .....all it takes is an accusation to be called a rapist even when you are exonerated when you are Derrick Rose meanwhile Ben Roethlisberger AND Peyton Manning are still America's sweethearts....
Bingo. And don't forget Lenny Dykstra, Mark Chmura, Joe Namath, etc. Oh, and even for the white athletes who are convicted--like Brock Turner, Nicholas Fifield, Brandon Vandenburg, Austin Wilkerson, Hakop Jack Kaplanyan, etc.--the sentencing is so slight as to be an absolute joke. Read about the latter cases here:
https://mic.com/articles/152511/7-heinous-things-white-male-athletes-get-away-with-in-the-united-states-all-the-time#.HKFPERLuy
Meanwhile, people like Brian Banks get five years for a crime he didn't commit.
I've gotten in trouble for shooting off my mouth on this topic, so this will be my last post discussing it. That said, the media's (and General Board's) handling of this case has been racially driven from the beginning. I mean, people (including mods) were posting statements that not only had Rose raped this girl, but that he'd had an LAPD officer killed for investigating this incident.
I'm glad it's done. I'm glad it worked out for Rose, whose own statements often didn't help either. Thankfully, the plaintiff was even more foolish than he.....
RIP magnumt--you're literally why I'm still here on these boards.
RIP The Hater--keep up the good fight in the great beyond.

This is a great post and makes so much sense. I feel the same way, not that my opinion really matters much.

No wonder Phil played the trial so cool
Don't give Phil too much credit now, he took a calculated risk. I think he felt it was worth gamble (trading for rose) since it was only a one year deal.
I believe it was reported that one of Phil's daughter's was actually a rape victim.

When will these athletes learn, that you've got to watch out & protect yourself (at all times) from these money hungry broads looking to collect millions while retiring off your name/success?
With that said; now Derrick Rose can finally put this behind him and focus on playing ball.

Re: Rose Cleared of All Charges: Update pg. 62
happy D rose won. Saw it as a money grab from the start but kept it to myself because it was an obviously sensitive topic. Kinda sad that Doe's case will make future/legitimate sexual assault victims hesitant to come forward. In my eyes, there is nothing wrong with being a sexual deviant. I do take offense to money grabbing parties who take advantage of situations such as the one that Doe was in. If Doe felt such a way, she could have easily come forward years ago and gotten justice if it was deserved. Instead she chased a pay day which will always be suspicious in my eyes. At the end of the day, this case wasnt about justice (which was served through D-rose's acquittal) but about a pay day.
