If they don't trade him, they're going to have to max him out or S&T when the new contract is signed. Seems to me that unless they actually want to keep him the only way to unload some contracts is to move him now. It'll be interesting to see what they do. I mean, he's young, but teams aren't exactly unloading the wagon to trade for anybody anymore.
It really does make too much sense.
They can flip Frye and Smith/Shumpert for Hill and then trade Thompson and the Nets pick for Gordon.
Gordon gives them youth incase Lebron leaves but also talent for a Finals run. He also helps them spread the floor more with his newfound range.
From the Magic perspective, they get TWO Top 10 Picks. They can Draft Bagley or Young with their own Pick, and then one of the top SGs/SFs left with the Nets pick. They can then explore the market for Fournier or Payton for current or future picks.
Effectively saving $$$ while also speeding up their rebuke down there in Orlando.
