look, i know it sucks to watch a horrible team. i'm sick of it too. but was their an alternative that made sense ? nah. payton is the major complaint from me.

yes. draft younger players instead of win now players. use the 33rd pick. use cap space to get picks. don't sign a bunch of washed up vets like elfrid payton

Yup. He really ruined it for me. Not so much even who he is, though I'll hate to see him play basketball. Just that the FO thought he was an ok idea.

Like the price etc, hate the player, hate what it might reveal about the FO's ability to gauge players.

Then again, Noel and Burks are solid, especially at their price, for what they are.

i'll be fair, payton being back might be less about him and more of what they think about frank/dsjr. he might have been all they could get. but spending another year on randle/payton 2 man show is madness. it's obvious they're not the future here. so even if they give you slightly better results, who cares ?

Even if they think Frank and DSJr suck the biggest donkey d*cks of all time, STILL bringing Payton back is a joke, based on his ability, fit with RJ, just everything. Oh, and that they drafted a combo guard at 23 or whatever, who they went though a series of hoops to do so, but now move him further back on the depth chart.

And I feel this way even when feeling Frank or DSJr gets traded before the season starts or any minute now.

Can’t know for sure but I bet he would find that funny considering the amount of times he was called a homer before he like much of the fan base three their arms up in disgust after the Melo disaster.

He was gone long before the Melo disaster.

It was definitely him that helped run another site but I would imagine that he blatantly remembers taking tons of **** for feverishly defending every Donnie Walsh move including striking out on every big name free agent and ending up with Amare. Heard he even defended the Glen Rice era and had a Clarence Weatherspoon based user name! Apparently.

They could have used the 25 on a pg like Flynn or Terry and then use 33 on Quickley and then could have just went youth and rolled with the results.

If they just do the same thing they do every year and play the vets over there young players it just shows they have no plan and simply just struck out in FA. It kinda does show that because they seemd to be serious about Hayward before his contract got out of control.

So I'm not giving them credit for doing notihng they just struck out.

Our problem is e should have gotten rid of Randle to make sure there was less conflicts with Mitch/Obi/Knox. We didn't. We then poured accelerant on it by bringing back Payton to ensure little to no growth. Less growth for DSJr/Frank, NONE for Quickley. And oh the fights we'll see with the PF/C.

There was a site run by a guy in Belgium that SexMutumbo took over as a mod when the guy lost interest, but it folded, then he started another - which I THINK was homeoftheknicks.

I’ve never seen you so positive before we really needed to use the 33rd pick. That was the only really baffling move from the front office. We coulda grabbed any guard there and it would have avoided having to bring Payton back. I think if we end up with one more salary dump for pick situations like getting Ed Davis this off-season will be fine. It stinks no one wanted to take their money but we need the kids to take steps forward to change the Knicks perception. We’ve got all these development coaches, let’s hope they’re worth the money they’re being paid.

good its a solid offer so Kings will match and we can make a trade offer for him once they match. I'd give em a 2022 2nd round pick. As long as we keep everything we own from the stacked 2021 and 2023 drafts I am good.

We can't assume that Quickly would have dropped to 33.
Obviously, there were other players we all liked at 33, so Flynn and some 33 guy seems better, right now, than Quickly.

But you've got a coach that recruited him to the top bball team in the country, advocating HARD for him, no doubt, and Knicks didn't want to risk him going just before them, though I doubt it was going to happen.

But we've asked for that "DMitchell" scenario where they know about a guy and move up via trade to "make sure".
Now, obviously huge talent difference.

But I don't mind they did it

Look, no good player was going to come here unless we grossly overpaid which I’m glad we didn’t. The only players who would come are guys who are trying to get minutes to prove themselves in this league. On top of that, it seems like we’re only giving out 1-year deals which really limited our options. The rest of the players are trying to sign on with contending teams or get paid. We were never going to get any good players this off-season.

i think so. people seem to be mad at berman, and he is trolling a bit, but i think the plan wasn't to tank. it's what he said it was. from the coach they hired to the players they drafted they were looking to be good soon. they just couldn't make it happen. they're not panicking afterwards but i don't know how much credit you want to give them for that. at this point, it's obvious that what the knicks really need to get good are some guys who are great at drafting. not just in the lottery everywhere. because that's the only way it will happen. walt perrin was supposed to be that. are you telling me that he said obi and a kid from kentucky were the guys he identified as sleepers ? and look, i don't know everything about drafting. maybe those kids will be great. but it looks mighty suspicious.

I truly believe he was brought here for PG depth because Frank or DSJr are going out in a trade.
Still not the person I'd have brought for the depth, but I think that's the why.

Knicks aren't going to carry 3 PG's and a combo guard in Quickly into the start of the season.

Gut feeling is it's Randle + (Frank or DSJr) for X

Where X just might be Westbrook but it could be someone else
