At this point, I don’t think the Knicks should have pressure for a 5/310. If what the writers are saying is true and the amount of cap space teams are small and rebuilding, we might be able to get Randle to pick up his option

Ehh..
From the times I have watched Val in the NBA I have been unimpressed. He has had post ups against much smaller guys and been inefficient. I expected to see "mouse in the house" and sheer domination and that just wasn't the case for whatever reason.
Small sample size, but I would have liked to see him score with comfort and ease.
tangent - but it is probably also a symptom of the current times because sometimes a guy has to get going and after a prime post up opportunity, if you don't immediately cash in, it's back to launching 3's and trying to draw fouls rather than real basketball.
/tangent
He aint Hakeem down low but he's got more moves than Ihart and more range. Highlights show him posting and dunking on players with size. I-hart has that tear drop and play making.
You cant have everything but imo he gives us more than enough to shore up Mitch's weaknesses.

One reason I'm optimistic he's gonna end his playoff dooms is that he started to show promising signs against the Heat. He had a couple good games and was still a positive net rating with the best offensive rating on the team on one ankle. I have faith things will get better. I think the Knicks double downed on Randle with the Mikal trade since they didn't go after a budding star to replace Randle and instead used most of our assets on a glue guy to fit in seamlessly with the team. Time will tell if they made the right decision, but I think Randle will have his real break out this playoffs if he's healthy. He should be able to feast since he has so much talent around him this time around.
Agreed. There's no logical reason that his performance would suffer that much. Especially since with Brunson they can't key in on him like they did in 2021. I believe he was hurt bad in '23 and finally starting to snap out. It would have been really nice to have seen it though.
I also side with those thinking that Mikal could be more than a typical 3rd option. He's not built for the #1 Nets role but I think he's gonna have a really nice year. We just need to stay healthy and hopefully some guys emerge at the C spot.

Yup. I can't argue. I will take what I can get.
Still would like to see Stephen Adams in his full Aquaman glory as our back up to battle Embiid, but Val would provide a different skillset without being a big time detriment on the other side.

Shane Battier was acquired with the taxpayer MLE after 3 stars were on the roster.
More recently, Derrick White was acquired for one, current first round pick.

How is Adams looking these days? It seems like he's been around forever.

I don't know if it's because he's left handed, but something about his gather and release seems off.
Instead of him dribbling into his shot in one motion on his attempts, he instead has a slight delay on his gather on shot attempts.
He's going to need a quicker release or that little delay is going to be enough time for the defender to recover and run him off the 3 point line.

pretty cool look in on the suns FO. Also a little Knicks related with the second part of the video. Brock Aller was handling direct trade negotiations with Suns on the 40 for 51 and 56 trade.
