Makes me feel good he's doing something important that he can enjoy. Whether or not he was the guy to take us to the championship, he really deserves something good to do. Just getting fired after his and our best season in decades with no connection to the sport and his lifelong passion just seemed wrong. Here's hoping he finds happiness (and enjoys spending his $30M, too)

This St John's thing IS just part time consulting isn't it?

I agree it's nice to see him doing what he loves. Good for Pitino bringing him in.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

yes, i'd think so. but him doing it so soon might also indicate a desire to continue in that direction. like, maybe some program would want him full-time.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

In 2022-23 we were 27th in the league giving up threes per game 8-)

We've had multiple seasons in which we couldn't defend the three, either giving up a lot of open looks, makes or high percentage. And there's only 1 common denominator between those teams....well there was 1.

Not to beat a dead horse, but Knicks were tied for 11th in 22-23 in defending the 3P by %, 17th in 23-24, then 26th in 24-25.

It's as if pairing Thibs with KAT wasn't a match made in heaven. Thibs gameplan seemed to always be forcing contested 3's. Looks bad when those 3's aren't contested.

Coach Thibzempic looking good
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Real talk, fresh off an ECF run having just coached KAT, Brunson, DRose And Jimmy Butler previously, Thibs would be a good look for a college program. I think his style and recent evolution would be perfect in that setting.

The dismissal of Tom Thibodeau as head coach of the New York Knicks following their run to the Eastern Conference Finals came as a surprise to many including him. "Thibodeau was deeply wounded over the loss of the only job he ever really wanted," according to Ian O'Connor of The Athletic

“But he also had a sense of betrayal,” a source close to him said. “When you find out that people you helped either weren’t with you in the end or didn’t fight for you like you fought for them, that stings.”

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/282468/Tom-Thibodeau-Felt-Sense-Of-Betrayal-In-Dismissal-As-Knicks-Coach

:nonono:

According to a second source, Thibodeau was "philosophically misaligned with several other members of the front office who were too eager to overlook the coach’s strengths... and to focus on his flaws."

“In their world,” the source said, “the players were 51-0 and Tom was 0-31.”

Absolutely the players carried the coach and Tom basically lost us games we should have won

He really did NOT do anything for us to win... Offense? JB iso iso iso 100000x, not urging KAT to shoot more 3s... Defense? Last in L in 3pt defense in the 3pt era

If you stand scowling with your arms crossed and yelling "down down down cmon man damn damn it **** down " they're gonna think you're coaching and they're gonna give you $10 mil per

Not getting LAST year's team to the Finals AT LEAST, that's the real betrayal
