Like, I can't tell if what we're doing is smart or stupid. It's just really confusing from the outside.

It's confusing because I think the timelines are off. They didn't incrementally do these requests. They probably happened already and media is just picking up on it now. It's all coming from other teams.

That why we haven't heard much of non current NBA coaches. Those are the ones getting leaked.

You don't think we have reached out to assistants or college coaches yet? My guess is they have.

If a coach is given permission to leave and another team has reached out, it’s basically a formality at that point.

News outlets keep saying no Bryant but why? Like what is the reasoning that we will only consider veteran coaches even if it means knowingly shooting ourselves in the foot?

I can only think it has to do with egos in the locker room

The strange thing about memebers in the media saying no to Bryant is it's as if assistants don't exist.

Do they not realize Bryant could be head coach and be surrounded by veteran head coaches to be his associate and assistants?

We have no clue what they’re doing. That’s why I don’t understand the freak outs or prematurely collecting wins like we failed after firing Thibs.

For all we know they could be doing something outside the box… maybe they’re considering the option of someone like Bryant at the helm and interviewing vet coaches to put around him. There’s so many possibilities…

We know Kidds came after udoka and finch. Because it was reported we were rebuffed from them and Stein said he checked in as of Tuesday night and this morning shams said Dallas finally got request and they said no.

Right, the bolded is clear to me. Leaks are coming from _other teams_ but we've been airtight, except to what we're leaking to local guys like CP and BKE and even that's not fully accurate.

One thing that was reported with a timestamp was reaching out to Kidd _this_ morning. That feels really weird to me. He 100% knew we were interested well before the ask and leveraged that.

again, if you're asking a team to let you interview their coach, you're hiring them. the end.

If the coach is a good coach what team is going to say “yeah sure you can interview my coach, just make sure you don’t hire them or anything”

They are putting out legal feelers. You go behind these team’s back then you open yourself to tampering charges. One these coaches could very well approach their team in the coming weeks and state they want out.

If they don’t you at least kicked the tires on it and did your due diligence.

It's completely idiotic. Love Hahn, but he is on company pay-roll so I know every word from his mouth is crafted.

The plan is trash. I don't care if 14 players hated Thibs, they are paid, they are going to play. Thibs could have been given an ultimatum to adapt.

At this point Mike Malone is the only coach I would have any confidence in. Bryant is a risk but could be good. They have not mentioned promoting anyone from the staff (Cheeks, Brunson, Dice).

Without a coach and a direction, then it's hard to know what you want to do with the roster...

Except for that these coaches are clearly getting info of our interest beforehand so by the time we ask the team, the coach might have gone to management and said they wanted out. That starts a negotiation.

The leaks about us being interested in them have come from the teams themselves.

The search has only been going on for 8 days this isn’t some long drawn out thing that started weeks ago.

Secondary point, I don’t know the particular fines or draft pick forfeiture, but I don’t think the Knicks/this FO can afford to be hit with another tampering charge for a 2nd time, I’m sure the penalties would be stiff for a 2nd offense.
