Re: [Camelo Thread Part 7]
Wow this situation is becoming obvious. Denver is laying the pr groundwork for a deal with the knicks to take place. Melo has balked at signing an extension with nj twice now and denver doesn't want to seem like they caved. So they are going to place the blame on nj.
Think about it, if it weren't for the looming cba negotiations denver would've gladly made the deal with ny. But this hypothetical downturn in salaries has given denver an undeserving amount of leverage which is going to expire if the kid continues to "just say no". Always side with the players in any contract matter.......eff the owners.

yeah I'd take him. Then turn around and try to move him IMMEDIATELY to a stupid ass GM looking to dump salary. It can be done. Stupid trades are made all the time in the NBA. Usually we're on the wrong end of them, but things are changing.

I've come to believe Melo will meet with the Nuggets and tell them yet again to be patient I will make a decision when the season ends. Melo is saying that about the Knicks not wanting mess thing up because his bulb lit. Who wouldn't want guys like Gallo and Chandler backing them up on a rotation? Melo wants to win and if he sees the best chance to win is to sign in July then he'll comply. That's why I'm super confident he wont go to the Nets or even sign the extension.

I hope I'm wrong and Denver really is mad (I also hate commenting anything Wojina says because he is so often wrong and acted like such a beotch before/during/after the whole Lebron decision) but to me this is just the next obvious step in the negotiation.
i.e. you guys take Al Harrington or we send Melo to NY.

Honestly the only guys I would give up for Melo are:
E. Curry (dont let the door hit you on the ass),
R. Mason (doest play and probably wont, feel bad or him),
B. Walker (dont think he is getting any better), still would like to keep him
Rautins (no one cares for him),
Azubuike (doing fine without him, dont think his recovery is going to make a difference) , would like to keep, but he is an expiring contract any way, and might require more money to resign
Mozgov (cause he is a moron),
S. Williams (would like to keep him because he is from memphis, but what can you do hes not that great)
no first rounders
Do not want to screw up the potential the Knicks have.

Sorry if this has been posted before (from NY Post by Berman):

Yesterday, Anthony cast doubt on the Knicks' chances, saying he'd love to play in New York but, "I don't think they're looking at me. I don't think they want me to come in and mess what they have up."
The Knicks have great interest but the Nuggets have shown little interest, and team president Donnie Walsh does not want to break up the team, preferring to focus on a top center this summer -- with Marc Gasol and Tyson Chandler restricted free agents.

Good point but if we get Melo how many minutes are going to be available to go around to Chandler and Gallo? I would love to be able to keep one of them but I don't think keeping both is realistic.

With Denver all but saying F-NY I think Donnie is concentrating on going after Melo this summer in FA. If he signs the extension then he is pulling himself out of the running, Denver doesn't want to deal with us so it's up to Melo to make it happen.

Latest from Isola:

Amar'e Stoudemire isn't staying up at night counting the days until Carmelo Anthony does or doesn't arrive in New York. In fact, he seems as confused as the next person regarding the fate of the Denver Nuggets' All-Star. "I'm not sure what the logistics are as far as a deal," Stoudemire says, "so I don't know what's going on."
When asked Monday if he wants to see other superstars come in, Stoudemire said, "No question, absolutely," without naming anyone. Later, he declined to get into specifics if he feels the time is right to make a deal.
"We are in a good groove," Stoudemire added. "I'm not the GM so I can't comment on that. We're looking to ultimately win a championship.

Yea to me, he has a lot of cheap rookie years on his contract, and he can be used to trade for some1 like Mayo. Dont want to trade him if Melo goes to the Knicks now or the summer. Lol really do not know, would be nice if the knicks got melo now and actually gave some competition to the good teams. bottom line, i would like to be patient and be able to beat the heat with a stacked roster for many years to come instead of going all out on a gamble for just one year.[/quote]
Is this a joke? Im not sure if I should laugh or not?

Melo is just frustrated. He'd obviously wouldn't care if the Knicks give up every thing for him. However Donnie is correct in responding that its foolish to come this far and scuttle for one man.
The Nuggets are screwing this up for themselves. Trying to add Harrington into the mix is pushing it too far. Not even NJ is that stupid.
Right before the trade deadline, you watch...the Nuggets are going to accept any offer from Donnie IF Melo is committed to the Knicks.

I think so too. Melos knows exactly, that the current Knicks Team has found to itself and the Knicks know that too. If Melo wants to be successful, NJ wouldn't be a realistic option for him. The team he would have there is worse than the one he has in Denver right now. He will stay with the Nuggets till the end of the season and sign as a FA, or the Knicks will send only Gallo/Chandler+AR+Curry shortly bevor the deadline, IF Melo really wants to become a Knick.

Atleast now that we know the Nets are making their last push.. We will finally find out if Melo goes to NJ or not. If Melo dosent agree hes coming here.
Hopefully we can put an end to all of this specualtion by the end of the week

I'd go after Iggy before Granger. We won't ever play a big C constantly so we need a shutdown wing defender to stop people from getting to the rim.

Do it again, Jared.
