LaMelo is the clear #1 pick if your team is desperate at PG. I like Onyeka a lot as well, just not for the Knicks.

Some raw notes I have that haven't been articulated properly yet.

- Ambidextrous around the rim, finishing with off-hand as well as his right.
- Body hesitations, head fakes, and shimmy's help him create space more than athleticism.
- At his most confident when initiating the PnR. Often makes the correct read, and has a Luka-like ability to whip it out off the penetration. Toys with help defenders.
- In transition struggles, mostly because he thinks he's Ray Allen with the pull-ups.
- Defensively, a lot of the time the effort isn't there. Rotations are lazy, but feels like it could be related to his over-effort on offense.
- The handle is as strong as his passing ability and what makes him deadly.

Yea, LaMelo looks like the clear #1 for me. Ton of upside.

1) He believes in draft BPA every time, and has been quoted saying so.
2) He says this draft after about 15 guys is basically equal, aka code word for no real standouts. His opinion last year on the record was that the draft was really top heavy (and the jazz traded out).

Anyhow just food for thought this adds weight to the idea we may not go PG if say, Wiseman, Toppin, or Devi are available. Also, I definitely see the knicks trying to move up this draft. Picks #15 -#17 are all with teams that may trade out for a variety of reasons.

Another note. If you watched knicksfantv. They had a Utah Jazz beat reporter that Perrin also was big on drafting character guys. Since they are drafting them to Utah that have to select guys that need to be ok with less of a night life, more gym grinders, family type guys. The demographic in Utah is different so it can be a culture shock for players who aren't prepared.

So they really dive deep into there everday lives just not there abilities on the court.

Seems like he is pretty thorough throughout the process.

Cross off Wiseman then :)

lamelo's character has been getting trashed by the media his whole life but hopefully papa perrin will see through the smoke and get our guy here

I think the question is, is he the type to stay in the city and party after a game, or is he the type to go home after the game so he can get a early start in Westchester the next day?

Like NY isn't Utah, but the temptation to slack off and get into trouble is definitely a lot more real here as well. Like Cleanthony getting shot says a lot about the risks of being here.

that is a great question. feel like the only players in discussion would be wiseman, ball, and Edwards and I am not 100% sure if I would on any of them.

Honest opinion.... None. before he went to Duke I felt he was #1.

yeah everyone has misses. Trey Burke + Grayson Allen (but he was like the 21st selection) that is a crap shoot that far down the line.

A Guy infamous for tripping opponets doesnt look like a high caracther and family Guy archetype.

Right skin tone for Utah.

Also, chance at a value pick lower in the draft

I have no doubt in my mind that RJ would definitely be the number one pick in this draft.

congratulation on finding the exception. Sometimes you look past character flaws, if you think the talent is there.

my ideal dream draft scenario is that lamelo is spoken into existence with our top pick, and then we package up something from 27/38 to the mid-teens to get hampton or maxey who are both other players I just personally like and think have a lot of upside if they fall to that range and a team wants to trade out

I was aiming for Yek when I had a pick...

I like your endorsement of Ball. I haven't watched jack. Hopefully we move up.

How are we getting LeMelo if he goes #1? How?

Unless the family promises to go back to Australia if not picked by the Knicks, then a trade ensues.
