At least, I would expect to receive assets to take Wall or Wiggins contracts.

I believe so. Russel plays like Rose in the sense that they are both freaks athletically but were horrible shooting (Rose's time with the Bulls). They both penetrated at will and Thibs made Rose into the youngest league MVP. If there is one coach to have him play under control its Thibs. Don't dismiss Bryant either. If this happens and that's a HUGE if, then its possible to see him play more under control with our coaching staff.

it is worse becaues it does exactly that...makes us just good enough to never get a pick worth a damn and never good enough to win anything important.

Playing and hoping for something that at best has a 12.5% chance of happening is the dumbest thing we can do and no it does not make Westbrook the worst contract in the game. That logic doesn't make any sense.

I'm not advocating for Russ but at least the mfer is productive and there's a world (albeit small) where he rehabs his value and makes himself more attractive to a real contender with us. He still was an engine on a team that was on pace to win over 50 games in the west last year.. He's not a bad player. He's just flawed. If Houston is going to compensate us to take him I can see why Leon and co. would be interested.

The thing is that if this were to happen strictly just to get Westbrook, the media would have reported it as a done deal. What I'm thinking is that Rose and Aller are looking for the best possible deal for the Knicks. Remember that Aller has player valuations down to a science. Houston is probably over extending their hands thinking they can fleece this new FO and realizing they can't. Its why the Knicks wont even include Knox.
