If Randle was on another team right now, 75% of the fanbase would be wary of adding his 20 million to the Knicks and violating the sanctity of their cap space.

Luckily, we already have him, so we don't have to act such a way.

Then again, Randle is about to get paid more....

GODDAMN! We need to trade Randle ASAP!

Is there a way the Knicks can trade everyone currently on the team for the rights to stashed European players and then we promote 7 or 8 guys from Westchester to play out the season? Knicks would be tanking, saving all kinds of $ and have all kinds of sexy future assets for some theoretical trade in the next 5 years, would be awesome.
Someone call Brock Aller. He'd know how to get it done.

Good thinking. Definitely a diamond in the rough sitting in Westchester. Think Shane Falco from The Replacements only it’s basketball not football

I’d rather they punt then spend on Schroder, oubre and Fournier and there off season

Agreed. We need to start using the cap space to take on bad contracts for assets.. fk free agency

yep

and since this looks like another offseason where we miss out on the top talent, they should have kept #19 and used it on an upside pick in the draft (like one of the Johnsons)

No way. Drafting a guy at 19 means you have to carry that contract on the books and risk the player being overpaid.
Outside of pick 32, trading 19 was best move Knicks made all draft night. Other 3 moves sucked.

Somebody about to get overpaid, we targeting Holmes, or we really like Simms or someone else. Hopefully it’s overpay for Lowry, sick of not having leadership at the PG position.

the salary of the 19th pick is very little (~2.7M), I'm sure they could fit that

Read on Twitter

According to an NBA executive who has spoken to Rose, the Knicks’ most baffling draft-night trade — moving the 19th pick for a heavily protected future first-rounder from Charlotte — was done partly to save $2.4 million in cap space for free agency. They never were going to use both of their first-rounders, for cap reasons.

they better have big plans for FA, b/c if they traded away a nice pick in a good draft for an extra 2.7M to spend on middling veteran FA's that have no future here, it would look like a bonehead decision (it already kinda does IMO)

The trust in Thibodeau and the developmental staff is so high, they believe modest free-agent moves will lead to another playoff finish

maybe if they miss the playoffs, they might realize their hubris.....they acted like a contender during the draft, when they should have been aggressive adding talent

not gonna be easy to make it back to the playoffs either

2.7 million? That's an outrage.

The team cut Norvelle Pelle to save some $ and I, for one, am proud of them.

I'm just mad they drafted Grimes and McBride. Especially McBride. They already shelling out for IQ and Harper. WTF.

Some inside info?

I'd rather they just release him after this year. :D

Ridiculous. There are no good free agents this year.

I just want you to know that we're really resigning Payton.

Just so the news don't hit too hard.

If we re-sign Payton for the amount we saved by trading the 19th pick, I'm done.

He’s another #2 or #3 player on a championship level team and doesn’t impede our ability to offer a 35% max or trade for one

Has ball handling skills
Scores efficiently
Can play make
Can lead

All the things we lack he does. He’s a perfect fit for the team rn before we trade for a #1

I legit cannot believe ppl think oubre derozan ball are better players or value as free agents.

Ppl will scoff at paying Fournier 20m but chase down lonzo for 15? What? So he can sit around and watch randle iso? Lonzo doesn’t do anything we actually need. Playmaking, breaking defenses, pnr, shot creation, iso, from the pg position

I’d take Derozan over Fournier for that same money 11/10..
Why? DeRozan can't space the floor

DeRozan isn't a winning player at SGSF anymore

hes either a backup PG
or a PF

6th man. He is a winning player…if you want regular season wins though. Transforms into DeFrozen during the playoffs though.

I keep asking myself, with the Kings drafting Mitchell and Haliburton last year. Is there a play to give them a large offer for Fox. i would gladly take Heild as well.

Fox
Heild
RJ
Randle
Mitch

That's not a bad starting 5
