Yup. Our history of sucking ass is probably paying off right now.

Let's see what Brunson + our youth can do for half a season. We may be pleasantly surprised...

.500 is pleasantly surprising since they have made the playoffs 4 times in the past 20 years

This is reminding me of the melo trade NEGOTIATIONS, relax. There was a lot of going back and forth. Eventually we just gave up everything but I don’t think that will be the case here because unless the Jazz plan on moving their team to Las Vegas, no one wants to play there and their best shot at turning it around is being Wack for Wembanyama. Keeping Mitchell will **** up their tank.

Says who where u even getting this narrative from? Everything we seen shows the opposite. Leon by all accounts looks like he's remaining strong and not tryna give in. The report that ainge is looking around the league to see if he can get another deal and if he can't I hope Leon says now it's less

It seems that the Knicks have what Ainge wants and what Danny Boy wants to do is trade Donovan before the season starts for 6+, 1st rounders.

He's looking for partners but no one has the goods, 8-)

Just don't let Dolan jump in an offer Obi and 2 more unprotected picks.

Knicks haven’t had an all star guard since Allan Houston in the 2000-2001 season..

Aye bro I hope you're right but there is a lot riding on this like jobs for instance. This front office was brought in to bring in big guns this is their first chance in doing so. I think it's gonna be hard to return to Dolan empty handed after all of this.

So all the sources that said deal was done were just making it up, right?

Think everyone knows it will get done eventually at this point. Just a matter of time

how can they be desperate if they haven't made the trade yet?

The only desperate people are the ones posting here, sometimes begging and pleading with fellow Knicks fans to gut the team, sometimes behaving like jihadis armed with stolen nukes demanding a trade at all costs, sometimes burying their head in the sand about the problems that will arise if Randle is still here when DM arrives, insisting on constructing trade scenarios instead of focusing on matters of greater importance like sharing their nostalgia for a favorite candy for god's sake

Nah, it's not that similar. That was a drama that was drawn out during the better part of a regular season which was completely disruptive. This is a normal off-season. We just happen to be in the mix for a change, but it's not like this has been going on indefinitely. It just feels that way because Buzz has posted 150 pages all by themself

It's just standard modern attention economy BS.

It seems most of this board are rubes when it comes to being emotionally manipulated by professional and amateur rumor mongers.

nahhh, these are Dolan's boys. One of the few things dolan is good for is that he will ride with his boys till the wheels fall off. If they have a better record, maybe an all star or the play-in and the media applauds them a little? they'll be here for another 3 years

the only other thing I think about is the next two days are the MLB all-star game (home run derby and game). Sports usually don't like to impede on others new cycle.

They may wait until after to officially agree. It's probably still haggling over certain pieces and maybe later pick protections...but it does seem like a when at this point and not an if.

Marbury got screwed. But prob tough with guys like AI, Kidd, McGrady, VC around. Think he shoulda made it over Michael Redd that one year though.

Ainge prob wants to tank, but there are worse things than having a 26 year old All Star locked up on a decent deal, so how desperate is he to trade him? The draft is a crapshoot, so he can retool around DMitch instead if be wants the safer route.

Leon wants a star, but DMitch is a B-level star. We just signed Brunson, have DRose, and Grimes/IQ/RJ are developing as guards. We shouldnt be desperate to gut our whole team for this guy.

So Im sure offers were made, but there’s no desperation for either side to make a trade right now. This will drag out until training camp unless Leon caves.

Also the Knicks had competition for Melo. And also that competition was our crosstown rivals. Not to mention there was going to be a lock out at the end of the season and Melo wanted the full max before the lock out happened so whoever got him was keeping him long term.
