Re: [Camelo Thread 14] - Minny, Denver and NY working!! p28
Anthony was asked if he could put himself in the shoes of Denver management on what a tough decision it will be. He wasn't in the mood for that after Monday's game.
"I really don't want to talk about that,'' said Anthony, who could play his last Denver home game Thursday against Dallas due to the Nuggets not being back at the Pepsi Center after that until Feb. 22. "I'm not talking about no Nuggets management now.''
Before the game, Anthony answered "no'' when asked by FanHouse if he's aware of any deal being close for him. He also said it was "nothing major'' why he missed the morning shootaround due to personal reasons but wouldn't offer details.

He should just pull a Jason Kidd and have a migraine for the next home game.

Via Wiretap....
How do we feel about this?
If it gets done and Dolan's more, "hands on" approach is what seals the deal, how will this reflect on Donnie in ownership's (Dolan's) mind?
Where does this put Zeke? How does Warkentein's recent hire fit into this (they're still friends on facebook??")?
The 24th can't come fast enough.
Maybe by the time I wake up there will be a statement made saying either we have Melo or Denver still won't deal with us. This is getting interesting. Very interesting.
Knicks owner James Dolan is taking a more active role in the team's pursuit of Carmelo Anthony, calling Denver owner Stan Kroenke directly.
"And I would also think that at this point everyone is looking to take credit if Carmelo comes to New York," said one Knicks source.
Dolan's involvement also suggests that former Knicks president Isiah Thomas is likely advising him. Thomas told Dolan in August that he had received assurances from Anthony's camp that he only wanted to play for the Knicks.
Dolan has largely been a hands-off owner, but he did tell Donnie Walsh not to sign Allen Iverson in the summer of 2009.
Walsh's opinion on Dolan's involvement is unknown, but he could possibly be in favor of the owner trying to make a deal happen.

Tomorrow: WT: Isiah calls Kroenke. Tells him he can get him Gallo, Fields and the Knicks first round picks til 2032. Looking to add JR Smith in a sign and trade too.

Do it again, Jared.

Yep. Dolan calling Kroenke is bad news for us. Not only he's sending signals he's desperate and absolutely wants Melo before the trade deadline but it could be also an indication of Isiah whispering in is ears to get a deal done ASAP.
Donnie Walsh played his cards very well but Dolan may force him to give up Chandler, Gallo and Fields in order to acquire Melo before the trade deadline. And Kroenke will also try to dump as many bad contracts as he can on us. And frankly if I'm Kroenke, I try to negotiate a deal directly with Dolan. Especially if he's receiving (bad) advices from Isiah Thomas. At this point, Stan Kroenke, his son and his GM know Walsh is too smart for them and he won't give up the farm for Melo. Their best card is to bypass Walsh and negotiate directly with Dolan and if Dolan's offered a deal directly then I don't think he will discuss it with Walsh first. His first call will be for Isiah and Thomas will probably advise him to give up everything for Melo.
I hope I'm wrong but Dolan starting to meddle isn't good news for us.

Dolan's involvement can only be bad news. Any man who would still take advice from Isiah Thomas, after everything that happened during his tenure as GM, has to be dumber than rocks.

Or maybe, this is Warky paying early dividends.
Maybe he's telling Dolan how to attack the situation from a more psychological standpoint, being that he knows the Kroenkes better than anyone else in the equation...
Warky did take a psych course recently you know....disarming empowerment almost. An ego massage of sorts. Billionaire ego to billionaire ego. I dunno y'all.

Dolan doesn't strike as a vessel to use for any psyche course driven negotiation.

I can't say this often enough, and in enough venues: Dolan taking basketball advice from a con man like Isiah Thomas, at this point in time, is like Wilpon calling Madoff in prison for financial advice.

Re: [Camelo Thread 14] - Minny, Denver and NY working!! p28
From the NY Times:
The Denver Nuggets would receive Chandler, and Corey Brewer and possibly a first-round pick from the Minnesota Timberwolves (who would get Randolph and Curry).
It sounded like a dream deal for the Knicks. Could they really acquire an elite talent for so little?
“They can’t,” said a team executive who has spoken to all of the parties.
The skepticism was quickly echoed by other team officials and agents monitoring the talks, and in several news reports. No one expects the Denver Nuggets to surrender Anthony, their franchise player, so easily.
If all else fails, and Anthony opts out this summer, the Nuggets could salvage the situation by using him in a sign-and-trade deal. Their leverage would surely be diminished. But they might obtain a worthwhile asset, and the Knicks might have their own incentives to deal.
To clear salary-cap room for Anthony, the Knicks will probably have to let Chandler — a restricted free agent — walk away. The obvious solution would be a dual sign-and-trade, with Chandler and Anthony changing places.
In other words, the deal the Nuggets get in July may not be much worse than the fantastically lopsided deal with the Knicks that is on the table now.

Dolan is the biggest idiot owner ever. Everything's going fine so let me see if i can do something, anything to **** things up. Excellent. Not that I have anything particular in mind to **** things up I'm just sure if I can get my hat into the ring the opportunity will present itself and I will be sure to seize it.
