This isn't Lebron part 2. He isn't sending out fliers to different team owners and telling them to come meet with him so he can decide which he likes best. New York is still New York. I'm sure Denver encouraged him, for their sake, to at least consider meeting with Prokorov... Perhaps, for all we know, Melo said ' I only do that if we then meet with Dolan.'

The trade would be even more than that. Melo wanting the extension at all costs ruins our leverage ten fold. He still obviously wants to extend with us above all but what happens if we dont trade for him? Will he extend with Denver or NJ? Thats my point. He has to be willing to go to FA (even if he really doesnt want to) so we give up as little as possible. And yes Gallo/Fields is a big asset to be used later in a trade for CP3/Deron. The fact that you cant grasp that by now is mind bottling .

Unbottle your mind for a second and try to grasp the idea that none of us has any idea what Carmelo wants or is willing to do. To say that he wants an extension "at any cost" is simply unfounded. If that were the case, Denver wouldn't be in trade negotiations at all. They'd simply re-sign him.

Why is this Al of the Bergen Record the only one reporting this? Clearly someone from the Nets is leaking this to him -- same old story as before. All of the Nets news on this has always seemed so orchestrated and trumped up.

^Not saying I don't believe that they want a deal with the Nyets, they probably prefer it and always have, but these leaks are strategic. It's not reporting of facts and just the facts ma'am. It's all about the Nets trying to orchestrate this so Melo comes. It's not information that's just getting out there -- it's public relations and an attempt to manipulate the story and Melo into giving in.

That much is obvious to me now.

It's so strategic that the offer matches up almost 1 to 1 with what the Nuggets reportedly want from the Knicks.

Harris = Felton
Murphy (traded for TPE) = Curry
Favors = Gallo/Chandler
Uzoh = Fields/Mozgov
1st rounders = 1st rounders

Woj reported last night than 1/2 of the 4 1st rounders were going to the team that would take Murphy's deal. It's almost an exact match. Granted the Knicks players are better than the Nets players, but the offer is identical. It lines up too perfectly for it not to be manufactured. -Jitpal

Where have we seen Melo say, 'I want my money, and will be extending at all costs'... he's said 'he'd look long and hard', he's also made countless points to say he doesn't have any interest in a rebuilding process, that it isn't all about the money, and that he wants to win a championship..... The fact that a Nets Nuggets deal hasn't happened yet, when it very well could have numerous times, where Melo could have gone there with a semi decent roster AND his money that you think he wants so much, and that it's dragged out this far, that he has basically forced the Denver into talking with the Knicks when they had no intention - and youre gona sit their and tell me he's a diva?

The deal isn't going to consist of more than 2/3 with Felton... and lets worry about getting the superstar at hand before thinking about others, shall we.
