With Bitcoin hitting 30k+ today, I'm feeling like "**** it"...

If one were to start investing in crypto, what accounts do you use and why? Coinbase vs. Gemini? Why not just buy with Robinhood?

Appreciate you all in advance.

Robinhood is for trading, buying a bitcoin on there doesn't mean you own it. You need to buy on an actual crypto exchange like Coinbase so you can send your bitcoin off the exchange. Once you have your bitcoin in your possession, in your wallet, you finally own it.

What they don't want you to know is that bitcoin is a true asset, which means u can use it as collateral for a cheap low interest loans, and you can only do that if you own your bitcoin. This is what the big boys are doing. Now I'm not condoning you to but you can see why it's so valuable right now with banks tightening their lending.

For those that missed out on Bitcoin and Ethereum, I'd recommend DOT and KSM. They will undergo significant growth in the years to come.

Who knows? if we did we'd be Billionaires many times over by now. :D

It will dump when the Whales who bought 1000's for pennies on the dollars decide to dump it.

IMO Unless you have substantial funds to invest (and you might) the boat has sailed for those exponential gains on Bitcoin. At 33k a coin substantial means at least six figures.

Eth was cheap not too long ago ...like under $100 . I should have picked up ~20 of those when I had the chance. Its still way cheap relative to Bitcoin though.

As amcoolio mentioned - if you aren't already loaded .....you can look for the next "Bitcoin" in the Alt market.

Well thankfully people seem to at least have parts of the equation solved for (the direction and how far it will go)...

Fully agree on DOT. Will be a top 3 coin in the near future.

To the person asking where to buy, you options are a bit more limited if you are in NY due to the bitlicense.
I’m a fan of Gemini. Also am a big fan of kucoin to pick up my alts.

If you're in NYC, Coinbase Pro or Gemini are your best bet for the big custodians

I believe as of Aug 2020 If you are a US citizen I believe you will not be able to use Binance.com ...

Hell yea. Wish I bought more :banghead:

Stannis, you can pick up on Kucoin also.
Also recently picked up a small bag of UNI and HTR.
HTR has some serious potential. Do your research though...
