Resign Precious and use Obi's TPE before it expires to get Richards saving CHA money but does that let the Knicks to save the TPMLE to use later in the season on a buyout player as long as Precious+Richards=more than 1st apron so the hard cap doesn't kick in for it?

They may have to give Precious a few more bucks to make sure they don't get hard capped at the 1st apron by going over it so they can use the TPMLE down the road because that hard cap would be for the 2nd apron after the TPE trade.

Is my thinking correct on this or what?

Using the OBI TPE hard caps us at the first apron since its a TPE from last year. Teams over the first apron can only use newly created TPEs

There is zero doubt the Knicks are a better team with a healthy Randle. Last season you could see all % from multiple players go down once Randle was out----Brunson, DD etc.

And last season he was playing incredibly well after the slow start...put up some great numbers against strong defenses too.

Not if the salary they take back in the trade puts them over the 1st apron while being under the 1st before the trade, then that hard cap is at the 2nd apron is my thinking.

But in all seriousness, I'm not the one to hype myself up too much for rookies but Dadiet's game and especially jumpshot has caught my eye. It looks silky smooth and pretty repeatable and reliable. I wouldn't be too surprised if he does not need a whole lot of time to shoot a solid % from 3. He could be a very nice backup option to Bridges/OG on the wings 2 years from now, or allow us to go with 3 tall wings from 2-4 and make the defense even tougher.....the most important thing is he will develop in a winning culture with guys that are mature and get along really well.

Is there a player out there worth TPE?

There are actually some decent back up PG’s still out there we should be able to get for that amount. If they were to move McBride for a center.

These dudes got something up their sleeve I just don’t know what. As someone else said, Aller out here playing chess, idk what to expect. I forgot Shake was even here.

He actually reminds me of young Danilo Gallinari. They had similar stats but Gallo was slightly better and a year older.

Randle has struggled in the playoffs but I always felt we needed him to beat Miami.

Also, I think people are really underrating how much space he will have with not just OG and Divo, but Mikal as well. He’s gonna have a great year.

I want to see him at the 5 more, that's where I think he'll be at his best in a playoff setting, without the unskilled oaf clogging the lane next to him. I need to see playoff success before I sign off on him extending though.

However, if they created a TPE in the nets deals they can also use picks and space to get someone.

Basically the Knicks still have ways to make moves. It won’t be easy but they can do it.

Tyus Jones becomes a possibility now

Only if he accepts a 5M salary (Tax MLE). It would be a surprise. I thought his price range would be 15-20M.

We can't get him in a sign and trade to avoid the first apron hard cap.

As I was afraid, his first year will not be only 1,157M like Cohen was saying.

We used a second-round exception for 4 years, with a 2year vet minimum first year (around 2,1M).

It gives us less available salary to work.

He reminds me of Copeland, Knox, and Banchero. I hope he can be a middle ground of those in terms of skills.

Jones/DDV/Hart/Kessler

Mix in Precious in certain matchups.

Doubt jones will take a 20mpg role at the taxpayer MLE. But if he does - I really like the extra ball handling off the bench
