What work could I have gone to with this roster? There was no asset or capital on my roster, 5 years into the sim.

My vote stands as no if (any player contract) can be amnesty.

But would vote yes if the rule was changed to require the player being amnesty to have more than a year left on their contract.

I'd be fine with this as well. Basically fine with anything that just gives someone that was given a bad hand, a chance to clear the deck without having to wait 5 full years.

1 full season & have had zero capital or free agency money up until this point and no one willing to take on ant of my players for anything.

Willing to change rule to:

- Can clip one year off their contract
- Can only be used if contract 2+ years

- Instead of amnestied, can stretch contract like old NBA CBA had, but only paying 80% of total contract, so I'd pay Smart $40 for the next 4 years, rather than 190 next year

Would add to the rule that the team that amnesty the player shouldn’t have access to that player in free agency. They would have to reacquire them through trade

Just because the players contract is overpaid doesn’t mean the player isn’t good. You can’t give the GM’s leverage to offer him another contract for cheaper the price after you’ve just acquired the money from the amnesty

The mental gymnastics to justify calling yourself a new GM by saying because you were inactive and didn't make any moves qualifies you is silly. It's outright saying that because other new GMs were active and maybe had to do unfavorable moves to get rid of bad contracts they inherited they get screwed but because you decided this grand plan to fix the team you took over was to wait, inactively and try and propose a rule to allow you to amnesty a bad contract, while claiming it's about the health of the game, and saying that others are looking at it the rule way while also being unwilling to have this rule not apply to you and only to apply to BB and going forward shows that this is a self serving rule proposal and so transparent.

What if we just grandfathered everybody into the "you can void 1 year of a deal but you have to cut the player" deal?

And then going forward, every new GM gets full amnesty rights.
