Ian's reporting on this didn't leave room for interpretation.

If you don't believe him, that's a different conversation, but the reporting was unequivocal.

I wholeheartedly believe him. Leon Rose saw the writing on the wall. He understood the assignment
So you believe Dolan would have fired Rose for not firing Thibs?

Yes, I think so. I think the current botched coaching search is the proof that Rose had no intention to fire Thibs until the interviews happened. Ian Begley implies that the decision happened after the player interviews. And Dolan was in those interviews. Rose saw how strongly Dolan felt about firing Thibs this time.

A firm denial is an ordinary no but the person saying it get so much pleasure by the utterance they are erect. Which makes me wonder if that's why shamm types it so often.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

that makes me feel good that barkley thinks we are stupid because he is pretty dumb himself (very funny...but dumb)

a stupid person that thinks something is stupid probably is smart.

Yep they're just making a list on who's available, then gonna narrow it down.

If they made a list of coaches that were unemployed, then went around to see if other active coaches were even available because why not ask?

If you could get Udoka, or other coaches over an unemployed coach wouldn't you do it?

Why not ask, if granted permission, get a list, they can interview and see if it's the right fit, if not they stay with their current team.

Pretty obvious this is just due diligence, anyone saying otherwise just wants to stoke the flames and drama and nonsense.

Shhh.... you're being logical and using common sense. NOT ALLOWED!

I find it very unlikely. Number one, Rose is around the team and players all the time. Number two, you make this decision after an incredibly successful season with the year one of the current roster makeup. Number three, you gave an extension to this coach just recently.

Rose had every excuse to bring the coaching staff and the players back, add some veterans on the cheap, maybe make one small move to upgrade Hart spot and go to the next season with a crippled Boston, Cleveland possible imploding due to luxury tax, Milwaukee going through a rebuild etc. Or you had a ready plan in terms of succession (see Memphis and Denver both knew the exact replacement) and the players complaining may trigger your plan B. Neither was the case.

For a guy who seems to have operated with patience and brought stability to the franchise, I find this chaotic decision unlikely for Rose

Which would mean he's not stupid, which would negate the premise.

Look. Barkley is smart for TV people, has no qualms about being wrong, and is pretty funny - and understands extremely well, at least instinctively, the mix between theatre and authenticity.

Whatever he thinks in Knicks-for-clicks memes over the Knicks hiring a replacement for Thibs is not relevant to either his expertise as a basketball-head or the Knicks FO's efforts.

Unfortunately, he is right. Dolan put the team in chaos. I don’t expect Leon Rose to last much longer

I look at what they’re doing with coaches under contract as what most FO’s wish they did with the Mavs n Luka at the trade deadline.

How many Gm’s regret not making a call just to see if they were looking to move anyone? The FO is probably leaving no stone unturned for similar reasons.

Welp, today's crash-out over nothing was fun,
but it appears logic eventually won the day.

What do we crash-out over tomorrow??

Imagine the first press conference. How do you feel like getting this job after the FO could not even interview multiple head coaches around the league? Will you have something to prove?

Imagine the locker room. What will the players who just got a coach that took the team to ECF fired do to you the moment you demanded a better effort or point out a mistake they did?
