Has anyone considered:

1.) The Knicks ran all possible mathematical scenarios and knew the tax implications of every conceivable offer Lin could receive weeks and even months ago.

2.) Therefore, the Knicks knew what their likely response would be in each scenario weeks and even months ago.

3.) Keeping #2 in mind, the Knicks spent, spent, spent, acting BEFORE Houston gave him the offer and not in response to any offer Lin did or did not receive.

4.) Putting all this together, isn't possible the Knicks KNEW what they were going to do with WHATEVER contract could legally be offered under CBA rules, and that nothing has changed since in the last few days.

5.) That fans and the media are twisting in knots with each change of the wind, while the Knicks position hasn't changed at all?

Again, there is a perception going on this situation is making the KNicks as uncertain as the fans and media are.

I think Grunwald can do math as well as I can, and I'd be shocked if anyone in the Knicks organization has been caught off guard or has changed their position due to recent events.

Wouldn't have happened without Lin. Lin was the ball that got everything moving. We can't say for sure what would have happened otherwise. But things were sinking fast as was Melo's rapport with the fans. Not clear whether he could have overcome that much pressure.

Melo was getting yelled at by the fans to pass the ball & booed by MSG.

I saw KnicksGod say he will stop being a Knicks fan or will be done with them if they don't bring him back so I was curious who else was on his side.

If he's at best a bench player, and you think he's best as a sixth man coming off the bench, which most good teams put a starting-caliber player there, then the team is doom.

And if NBA teams think Lin is a starting caliber then so be it but I still don't think he's a starter in the NBA. Don't understand why people think it's absurd to think so (not directed at you). It's not like it's a bad thing for Lin to come off the bench, I think he would thrive in that role.

Then why wouldn't we match, to use him as a bench guy with the potential for more? Trade chip regardless.

Fair scenario. I assume you tend to believe the above--as do I (except I think the owner can trump any of these fixed scenario) so you think whatever happens was the plan all along?

That's exactly why I'm SUPER UPSET because I think Knicks either 1) were sooooooo stupid as they simply didn't run all the possible scenarios, or 2) were dishonest from the beginning as they were planning to let him go but wanted to frame the conversation in a fashion to gain some sympathy.
