People still don't get it. It wasn't to create room for FA.
It was to create a cost free asset that can be put into a trade either this year or next year.
Once you pick, a) The player is defined and the other team that will receive the pick can't pick their own guy and b) The asset how has a cap hit, not matter how small. Not for the KNICKS but for the other team.

Yes, this. I thought we got terrible value on every trade we made but I also understand that the long game is to acquire picks because they are worth more than players in blockbuster deals. And I also agree with that plan… if that Charlotte pick is packaged for Dame I won’t even remember the original trade on draft night.

I only come here for draft, FA and trade deadline and I can’t handle it… how have you been doing this for damn near two decades?! Props old timer, props

Don’t really need the Lakers numbers in a small sample size as we have seen him on different teams in much bigger sample size. We know who he is as a player at this point and it really depends on the contract. If it’s market value for like 2 or 3 years it’s not bad and we can move him if we have to

Knicks fans so battered no free agents come they are justifying building a foundation around Randle/Fournier/Schroeder as the 3 highest paid players on the team. Not one has proven to be a #2 option in the NBa let alone a #1 option.

We can add them to #3 option Randle and #4 option RJ. Blueprint.

Then don't sell the fans a dream you can't deliver. If we are shopping at target so be it. But don't sell us this CAA direction that we are shopping on Saks 5th.

If your goal is to just maintain playoff basketball with zero upside I can't be down with that.
