Hopefully this makes Cleveland panic because they've done nothing to close the gap with the Warriors, who have added more firepower. Obviously, Cleveland and Houston have very little, if anything, that we want but maybe they can rope in a third of fourth team to give us some picks and young talent

And what makes you think that Cleveland acquiring Melo would close the gap with the Warriors? Melo seems kind of redundant if he went to the Cavs. How the heck is Melo's slow butt going to cover all those 3 point shooters, KD charging down the lane or box out Draymond Green?

Melo being able to bolt in one year is why I doubt picks would come our way. If they do, it'd be because of the contracts we take from someone, not because of Melo himself.

I think the Cavs have to feel some pressure to make a splash and keep Lebron happy. Unless Lebron AND Melo goto L.A. next year. But if Cleveland made the move for Melo, does it help them win a championship this year? It gives them a more dangerous offensive weapon (IMHO) than Love, but it does not really help them stop GS, aside from maybe being able to matchup better to the DEATH lineup.

With all that being said- give us a damn first round pick.

What are your thoughts on if we were to acquire Love, what could we flip him to? Could he net more than a first-round pick?

Love is an all star talent. I do think we could get a 1st rounder for him. With that said, I can't see Cle trading Love for Melo because imo they need both to be able to take on GS, and even then I'm not sure it evens the odds.

LeBron was correct when he stated GS was the toughest comp he's ever faced. When they added Durant, game over. Adding melo and losing Love might add more offense....not totally sold on this because Love is a capable scorer as well. Either way, LeBron needs a type of help that when he sits the offense and defense doesn't fall off a cliff. Melo doesn't truly help in entirety in this regard.

It actually works out to be closer than that. Anderson is making about $21 Million his final year. Olnyk will average around $12.5 Million / Year.

Year 1: there's a +$6 Million gap alone!

By Year 3, it's reached +$9 Million!

That's a CUMULATIVE about $25 Million DIFFERENCE!

Don't get me wrong,I like Rhino. But Riley did a GOOD move here.

Of CLE can get Melo while keeping Love, they can move Love for a better fit. The goal for them, I would think is get Melo for cheap and either either stand Pat or then feel like they can move Love since at least his scoring in the front court would be better. A 3 way might be necessary to get salaries to work, but not a Melo for Love swap. Not a bad more for them to try to upgrade the wings and get more athletic by moving Love and replacing the front court void with Melo. Doesn't mean we need to help them do that.

It wouldn't. Melo won't be a difference maker. But is Cleveland just supposed to stand still? They only pushed it to a game 5 and the Warriors will build on their chemistry even more.

The point of my post is that GH to Boston and Melo to Hou makes Cleveland panic because their options are drying up, not that they'll seriously be able to contend anyway, but I'm sure they'll have to try something.
