Same. I forget where it is, but I'm on record in one of those draft threads bringing him up and that the knicks should go for him

I'm sure they'd move Gobert if they felt the need to do so, but Mitchell will be going no where unless he asks out. Utah is like half the NBA, they can't get elite talent unless they draft and develop it....Mitchell is a legit number one option, Utah wouldn't give him up for Randle and Barrett even if it included several picks. If Mitchell was 31, yeah, the Knicks could get him.

If this front office thinks Randle can bring back a haul, after the last few months... his value has dipped so low, I just want to get rid of his contract.

Maybe the Knicks do the massive overpay for a big name

Unless he's gotten vaccinated it would be a massive overpay for away games.

I expect trades tomorrow. Maybe not the Knicks but hopefully there will be some trades. Everyone is in a holding pattern.

Maybe Ted Cruz’s unsolicited support will annoy him into taking it

Said Beal: “Don’t attach me to that. Because that’s not what I was trying to do. I’m not sitting here advocating for people not to get it. … I’ve never met you, I don’t talk to you, and I don’t support you or anything you do. That’s a little weird. That’s why I don’t like social media. Ted, you know damn well I ain’t rockin’ with you. You’re not going to get no cool points if that’s what you’re in it for.”

Utah would hang up the damn phone. rj is the start of a mitchell trade, but it sure as hell wont contain randle.

Minnesota also has their FRPs and Beverly is expiring. Beverly + their 2022 FRP for Fournier could actually work for both teams.

There are right now so many possibilities out there to ditch Burks and Fournier and make room for the young players it'd be unforgivable if Leon doesn't get anything done.

Mitchell makes no sense right now----it'd be the Melo situation all over again. We'd have to likely give up RJ+ Toppin+ Grimes+ 3 FRPs with minimal protection and even that may not be enough. We'd end up with Mitchell playing by himself. I do however see some possibility Utah would agree to take on Randle if the rest of the package was insanely good.

Mitchell is signed for the next 4 years. The Jazz are a small market team that wins 50 games and is among the top 5 in the west every year. In contrast to popular conjecture I can assure you they'd be ok with being a top 10 team in the league, top 5 in their conference and second round out every season. Even a first round exit wouldn't have them trading their best player. Mitchell has career averages of 30 points in the playoff. He is one of a kind---the Jazz can't get such players via FA, they have to draft them....they are not trading him and he has no leverage after his contract extension. Any Mitchell trade becomes realistic maybe 3 years from now but not now.

They can’t use Fournier or Burks as they’re still sitting Malik Beasley. They could really use Randle though and I like that thought.

I gained a tiny little bit of respect back for him. That's a good response.

Really early on this scenario and it’s based on there being a roster glut going into next year.

Knicks trade Mavs 2023 pick to the Grizzlies for the Lakers pick they have.

Basically I think the Lakers sneak into the 8th or 7th seed and have a 15-18 pick. The Knicks can grab a extra guy this year at a higher draft position than the Mavs 2023 pick is likely to be and start the two draft picks working in the background to hopefully be ready for playing time when Burks, Noel, Kemba, and Rose come off the books in 2023.

Flipside the Grizzlies trade for a later pick in a “better” year (Mavs could be 20-30 if they click), but they don’t have to take on 3 rookie contracts this year of guys who aren’t likely to play.

Randle, Fournier, Walker for Westbrook and the Lakers' 2027 first saves the Knicks (approximately):

3 years/$90 million of Randle
1 year/$19 million of Fournier

On the one hand, the trade makes it harder for the Knicks to operate over the cap, as they no longer have medium-size contracts to add as salary filler in a trade.

On the other hand, the trade saves the Knicks a lot money long-term, and clears the books for the summer of 2023, depending on what they decide to do with RJ and Cam's contract extensions. So it enables them to go back under the cap, without having their future tied to two treadmill players. Not a lot of big-name free agents in their prime the next couple of years though, besides Jokic in 2023 and Booker and Towns in 2024.

It also gives the Knicks a future first they can use in a trade e.g. in a Zion blockbuster.

So I'm not sure what this trade achieves, but I sure like it better than any trade for De'Aaron Schroeder.

From the T&T board. I think it’s solid

Nuggets Trade: Jamychal Green, 2 2nd rd picks

Knicks Trade: Nerlens Noel

Why: Denver gets a rim running backup center who can also defend the rim. The thought is that Noel will also be able to play the 4 next to Jokic in some big lineups to provide a different look defensively. Knicks get a different type of big in Jamychal Green, who can play both the 4 and 5. Having an off year but has consistently shot the ball from 3, he'll help stretch the floor and gives the Knicks some extra spacing.

Wonder if at some point we see a three-way around Julius to Indiana, Sabonis to Sacramento, and Fox to us.

If NOP want to buy at the deadline, send them our trash. Randle and Fournier probably help their case and they have beautiful assets.
