the discussion did get serious and rational . i apologize. it's not like me.

we know it's serious in here when you're throwing down blocks of text.

And I agree with your point that the most exciting time for knicks fans is when they're not on the court.

The huge difference is Pop is the coach. He handles major issues internally. He occasionally will send a message thru the media, but the majority is dealt with in the lockerroom as the coach. We don't hear anything from rc Buford. We rarely hear anything about the spurs at all cause management handles that stuff

This all should have been handled internally months ago. Management messed up not fixing this months ago.

New York City vs. San Antonio

Especially in today's social media era, it's not a fair comparison. Everything that happens in NYC is under a microscope

Just look at how todays news of Phil taking calls about Porzingis got blown up. Just because he answered phone calls it got made into a whole circus show.

I don't know...in today's media there's gossip everywhere...plenty of gossip in clev right now.

Phil handles things a lot different then Pop...cant see Pop writing tell all books like Phil did or have a pop files.

Phil just seems to feel a need to always speak his mind, while pop is way more close guarded.

I mean how specifically have the Knicks wronged Porzingis? Over the triangle? Phil hasnt said anything publicly disparaging him that I recall.

Phil disparaged melo and it rubbed KP the wrong way. Melo has taken kp under his wing and theres a lot of respect there, yet Phil disrespected melo pretty bad. Fans are looking at it as kp throwing a hissy fit, but in his eyes he's defending a teammate. There's actually some honor in that.

Maybe that's the problem. Phil is trying to implement a system that Melo wants no part of. You know, things that actually win in the NBA like ball movement, moving without the ball, defense, rebounding, being coachable, getting an open shot, setting up teammates. If Porzingis stays, Melo has to get lost. And if Porzingis is mad about Melo being forced out and expressing it publicly, then adios to him too.

Imagine if a NY coach made a Knicks player cry on the bench in today's time, like Pop made Tony Parker cry when he was young. The media would eat it up and turn it into a circus show. Also remember when Popovich and Stephen Jackson had that feud and they just cut Jackson because he didn't want to admit to the other players that they were better than him as was requested by Pop, the media would be all over that story. We don't hear about San Antonio and how they do things because frankly nobody really cares, it doesn't sell stories, but NY does. Phil also retired twice, he's had a lot more free time to write books, Pop hasn't. Although I do agree they are different in their own ways, Phil is older and more experienced as a coach and has been a part of 3 of the biggest markets in the entire country ( NY, Chicago, LA) so he's been dealing with a lot more pressure his entire career. We don't know how Pop would handle those bigger markets, but he does seem to have a short fuse so I can imagine him giving the NY media nonstop juicy material that they would just love.

I come in peace. Is KP really on the block? I doubt that but people keep floating his name over on our boards. Thanks for the insights! Best of luck on draft day.

PS. I used to secretly root for NYK when LJ, Allan Houston and Ewing were there. Can't forget Van Gundy and those fights! Chris Childs was a childhood hero haha. Great teams, lots of fun.

Quoting you not to reply to you but to use ya post as an example. It's so tiring addressing these type of post, I don't know why people continue to write these kind of things.

Yep. And also worth noting KP has been teflon and gotten a ton of love here. He has the opportunity to be the face of an 'important' sports franchise. I hope he Smartens up. The Knicks can't get rid of Melo quick enough, either.
I dunno.

Anyhow, I doubt Phil trades him but if he gets a huge offer, maybe this is the time to do it. KP has shown brilliance but also fragility.
Interesting times...

Stop the nonsense.
KP's behavior is on him. Melo has nothing to do with any of this. Why do posters keep holding on to this narrative that Melo is in KP's ear telling him to act a fool? To lighten the blow? Stop.

Melo is leading with his actions in this case. KP is young, impressionable and from a foreign land, so he's assuming acting like Melo is the proper NBA way.

I mean, KP was rocking Melo cornrows when he was 8 years old for f*cks sake. Of course he's influenced by him.

Melo is a very very very bad man.

:D

Melo's actions? You mean actions like going to his exit meeting?
