They didn't wiff on Waiters. It was mere speculation on some interest as well as Rondo etc. and nothing you heard from the Knicks. Waiters was not going to be a good fit here as he hogs the ball, neither is Rondo.
This is a young, tall and athletic backcourt the team is putting together with great shooters.

That is the old version of Hardaway Jr
New version of my Hardaway Jr isn't just a spot up shooter. He can shoot off the dribble now, there is video of it.
He also aggressively goes to the rim now, there is a lot of video of that too.
Oh, and his physical gifts? Dude hit the gym HARD last summer and gained definition, basically transformed his body. I am pretty sure even Mike Been commented on it during an MSG broadcast of a Knicks-Hawks game.
He may not be great, but we are not paying him to be great. We are paying him to be good, like Evan Fournier-good.
Please stop thinking we are getting Knicks THJr. He has improved a boatload.

I didn't say Waiters was gonna be good, I didn't like that idea either. But Waiters was more valuable than THJ last season and considering THJ had zero rumors and this move happened right after Waiters decision, I'm guessing those Waiters rumors had serious legs (they weren't just NY beat rumors).
THJ needs to shoot above 38% from 3 and make more than 2 per game before I use "great shooter" in the same sentence as his name. For now he's a pretty good shooter with a career 35% 3 pt average.

I am hoping and praying ATL matches. When that last minute of matching arrives I will be waiting and reading all the news feeds.
If they match ...

the only silver lining I see is if there are deals lined up for Melo and Lee..if we are going all young I don't mind overpaying but we have to be going young. Can't have almost 30 million tied up at the 2 guard position.
Added an edit saying I'm confused why we just didn't sign Holiday for less money and fewer years, but it is what it is.
We also should have traded Lee before the draft...
I could understand THjr over Holiday because THjr is a professional scorer. I can understand going into the year with KP and WHG as your #1 and #2 options that might be light on offense. So I get that THjr was probably the highest ceiling offensive option out there. But that means you absolutely can't bring back Melo.
Melo, KP, THjr, and WHG is way to many options we really need to let KP take over the offense.

to be fair, and I am the farthest thing from a THjr fan, but THjr has a ton more offensive talent than Justin Holiday.
