Re: Melo Trade Thread "Ice Cube Family movie edition"
Just hoping a Melo trade brings back atleast Harkless, Qi and a pick (even second rounder).
Harkless and Qi are good talents to nurture ...
Then I hope we quickly sign some young talent..

Maybe, but Griffin turned us down....Not exactly sure what it means, but Executive VP at least sounds good
Just get someone in there fast so Mills can't screw up things too much more.
Yeah, I am down for this signing.
He sounds better then Griffin and can't be worse then what we have now

Here are the parameters:
1. You will report to me
2. You will report to all of Dolan's flunkies
3. You will not have the final say in all matters

supposedly he also draft Kevin Durant...and he was in the Kings draft room this year...and the kings had a GREAT draft.
when I first red we get a kings guy to be our new GM...i first said great we plucked a GM from arguably a worse franchise then ours. But I read up and he's had a lot of success of being part of rebuilding teams. Seems pretty good at drafting/evaluating young players...
But to be honest
"In his time in Orlando, Perry helped draft Victor Oladipo (2013), Aaron Gordon and Elfrid Payton (2014), and Mario Hezonja (2015) in Orlando."
None of those guys are any good. Oladipo OK rest pretty trashy. Kings have a good draft on paper but that doesn't mean anything until the season starts.
The 2013 and 2014 drafts were absolute trash. The Hezonja pick wasn't great, but again, he wasn't Orlando's GM.

Is it? Gaines hit on KP, Mills on Willy, our scouts hit late firsts and second round guys in the past as wel.
It's about wins and losses. Other teams have great scouts, you should check out their records.
Just because you aren't winning doesn't mean you don't have good scouts.
Well then, maybe our scouts need to do a much better job finding players that compliment the system we are trying to play. Our advanced scouts also need to do a much better job once the season begins. Scouting also involves players that are already in the league. There is much more to it than just the draft. But lots of teams find diamonds in the rough either through the draft or players who have been released and some go on to become stars.
Any good President/GM coming here would have cleaned house by now. And the jury is still out on KP. At 7-3 you better learn how to be a great passer.

Further it goes, the more likely its seems we aren't getting any assets back. No, Portland is not gonna give up Harkless for Ryan Anderson.
Essentially we are willing to flip Melo for RyAn, but want to trade him to a 3rd team (Portland).
Blazers don't want to take his salary, so they want to unload their garbage to someone else. (4th team?)

Maybe our president/FO needed to do a better job at hiring coaches/not forcing a system that didn't fit the players (you know, like how essentially every team in the NFL and NBA works). Sure, when it comes to acquiring players our scouts should aspire to be better, but they aren't bad at all.
KP doesn't have to be a great passer at 7'3. He should improve, obviously, because aside from post up skills, that was his biggest weakness on offense, but he doesn't have to be "great" at it - if you were implying he had to be great at it because of his height, I'd disagree with that because there isn't a correlation (especially for bigs). Any good FO Executive would have cleaned house? Is that why KP was being sought by teams left and right when our former POBO put him on the block...? Our recently drafted 18 year old would be on his way out? Willy? Nah, they wouldn't be.

Strongly agree. Myers just doesn't have a place in the NBA. He can shoot the 3 but he can't rebound or block a shot. He is too slow footed to help, switch or basically play defense. For his size, he gets pushed around by wing players. He also doesn't seem to have any BBIQ at all. He isn't going to magically get better. He is 15 minutes of suck on the court every night. I can't see a team having any desire to add this guy.

David Aldridge said he's one of the most respected front office people in the NBA and i also saw that Sac could ask for compensation for us to sign Perry. Lets hope they let the guy leave for a better job and not ask for anything.
